Reporting

How often are reports updated?

Reports are updated daily in the early AM and will reflect all the appropriate traffic and sales information from the previous day.

How do you pay commissions on a future release title?

Commissions are paid out at the time of shipment, not the time the order was placed. When you view your orders shipped report, you will see a date of shipment next to the respective order. Whatever months that falls under, that is the month you will receive the commission.

What do negative numbers in my Commission Reports mean?

Negative order numbers and dollar amounts in parenthesis represent returned or refunded products. If a customer order is either unable to reach it's final shipping destination due to refusal of delivery or incorrect shipping information, we will subtract any referral fees from your account when we get the product back. Please note, customers have several days to return an item after they receive it, so the record for the shipped item(s) and the record for its return may not be on the same report.

My affiliate link code disappeared after I click off the referred page. Will I still get credit for any sales?

Your affiliate link code is set as the referrer at the first point of entry off any of your links and would appear like this: http://www.cduniverse.com/default.asp?frm=lk_affiliatelinkcode. Any subsequent pages visited will not show your affiliate link code but is being tracked via a cookie which was set on the entry page. Although we don't display your affiliate link code, rest assured you will get credit for any referred sales. Please read below for more information regarding our cookie policy.

Why didn't an order get properly credited to my link code?

When a visitor comes directly to www.cduniverse.com, we credit you the traffic and sales for that visitor to CD Universe. If that same visitor comes back through a link on your site within 6 hours of their initial visit to cduniverse.com, it will not credit you, the affiliate. Even if the visitor came through your link code, you the affiliate will not get credit for the traffic or sale because the visitor had already CD Universe prior.

Similarly, if a visitor comes to CD Universe through your site, but then leaves and comes back directly to CD Universe or through a different affiiliate, your site will continue to get credit for that visitor for 6 hours.

The reason the site is set up this way is actually to the benefit of all our affiliates. It eliminates the possibility of websites 'jacking' your traffic as well as sales by giving credit to the originator of the initial visit.

How long is my referral valid for?

You would receive commissions on any sales that you directly refer to CD Universe. When someone comes from your site, a cookie is set that is valid for 30 days in which you could receive credit for and it only applies to the first purchase during that session.

Can I track multiple campaigns/URLs under one account?

In order to track multiple campaigns/URLs you would continue to use your frm code on all of your links but then append the additional parameter of "&siteid=". The siteid can be whatever unique identifier you like.

For example, the following two URLs would both credit the same frm code:

http://www.cduniverse.com/default.asp?frm=lk_test&siteid=campaignA
http://www.cduniverse.com/default.asp?frm=lk_test&siteid=campaignB

On the orders shipped report there is a column called id which would show which siteID each order came from. There is also no limit to the number of siteIDs you can track.

I lost my password/login, how can I retrieve it?

If you forgot your affiliate link code/password, click here. Simply enter the e-mail address associated with your CD Universe affiliate account, then click Submit. In a few minutes you will receive an e-mail with your affiliate link code and password.

How do I update my contact information?

To update your contact information you need to log in to your account with your affiliate link code and password and select the "Manage Account" button. There you will be able to change your contact information as well as update your payment methods.

To change your password you need to log in to your account and select the "Manage Account" button.

Payments

When will I be paid?

Checks are issued within the first 15 days of each month. You can view the commission history report to see if a check has been issued at any time.

What happens to my commission if they do not meet the minimum payment

Commissions never expire but are just carried over to the following month until you reach our minimum payout of $20. If you would like to receive your commission payment in a method other than check, please click here.

I didn’t receive my commission check, what do I do?

If you are located in the U.S., please allow 14 days from the date the check appears as issued on your commission history report. If you are an international affiliate, please allow 30 days.

If your check does not arrive in this time period, please send an email to partners@cduniverse.com with the subject: Missing Commission Check. Please provide your link code in your email.

What other payment methods are available?

While we do offer checks as a primary method of payment, we also offer payment in the form of PayPal and store credit.

To select PayPal, please log in to your account and select the "Manage Your Account" button. You will see a section where you can select the PayPal payment method and also provide your PayPal email address.

To set your payment method to store credit, you need to mail us your affiliate link code as well as the customer email address you use if different than your affiliate email address. Send an email to partners@cduniverse.com with the subject: Payment Method Change Request

What is CD Universe's policy for affiliates placing orders for themselves?

You may not purchase products during sessions initiated through your own affiliate links and will not receive referral fees for such orders. This includes orders for customers, orders on behalf of customers, and orders for products to be used by you, your friends, your relatives, or your associates in any manner.

Why do you need my tax information?

United States law requires us to collect tax information from affiliates who are U.S. citizens, residents, or organizations, and from certain non-U.S. individuals and entities.

If you earn more than $600 in a calendar year, we are legally required to file a 1099 form with the IRS that names you as an independent contractor who has received a taxable amount of income from us. Failure to provide us your tax information upon our request will result in suspension of your account and withholdings of any future commissions.

Linking

How do I create links to stars, directors and titles?

There are two ways to go about creating links. We offer very detailed information that is customized for your link code via our link creation page.

You can also create links to any page on our site by simply scrolling to the bottom of any page and copying the URL at the bottom. Simply append this text at the end of the url “&frm=lk_yourlinkcode” so that you are properly credited for any referrals. Be sure to substitute the sample link code above with your real link code.

How do I go about receiving a datafeed?

The first step to receiving a feed is to sign up as an affiliate. Once you do so, send an email to partners@cduniverse.com with the subject: Datafeed Request. Please include your link code and a brief explanation on your plans for the feed. All sites are reviewed for content prior to granting access to our ftp server. Please allow up to 14 days for our team to review your site.

How can I check if my links are correct?

To ensure all your links are working properly, go ahead and click on some or all of your links. Give the system a day to register the clicks and log in to your account. Select the "Visitor Summary" button. If your links are working correctly you will see that reflected on the report. If you still are unsure if your links are correct, email us at partners@cduniverse.com with the subject: Link Verification and we will take a look.

Do you offer web services?

Once you sign up as an affiliate, you may apply to our web services program. Our web services offer real-time access to our product listing data. We have multiple search types and a few optional parameters to refine your searches. You can read more about our web services program here. To apply, send an email to partners@cduniverse.com with the subject: Web Services Request. Please include your link code and a brief explanation of your plans for the web services. All sites are reviewed for content prior to granting access. Please allow up to 14 days for our team to review your site.
