Tin Drum album for sale Product Description

Tin Drum album for sale by Japan was released on the Caroline label. TIN DRUM, Japan's fifth studio album, appeared with a cover photograph of a perfectly coifed David Sylvian eating rice from a bowl in a bare room, while a peeling poster of Mao looked on. Tin Drum CD music This image was obviously very deliberately created, and the music on this, their last studio album as Japan, is no less carefully presented. TIN DRUM has been said to be their most "Oriental" album, but it also has equally prevalent Middle Eastern influences, especially in regards to Steve Jansen's percussion. Tin Drum CD music is a 2-disc set with 8 songs.   ...See Full Description

Brilliant Group!
One of the best album of a brilliant group. Japan (D. Sylvian) is one of the best band of the 80/90's and the music is still very good to listen!! I like this music more than the music of today!

Vastly Improved Re-Issue
Few bands have reached the level of creating landmark albums like Japan's Tin Drum. In spite of the poor promotion it was given when the album was released, 'Tin Drum' still remains as the high point of late 20th Century's World Music Scene. I was quite disappointed with the 90's CD transfer - the drums and bass failed to punch through the mix as it did on the vinyl version - subtle acoustic-sounding synth lines were obscured - an overall tinny sound. This Re-Issue more than captures the full body sound from the vinyl release. The punch of the drums (which sounds like 3 drummers, but is all Steve Jensen: playing in real time), the body of the fretless bass (Mick Karn's unique 'spoken' bassline still sound like no other musician) and atmospheres have finally been given the level of care of the awesome.

Better Than Ever!!
I've loved Japan's music for years and have an extensive collection of their music. I can honestly say that hearing this cd was like hearing it for the first time. The quality of the packaging and remastering are absolutely incredible. I would recommend this record to anyone. A MUST HAVE!

New Wave Defined
Wanna know where groups like Duran, Numan, and OMD turned for ideas? Listen to Japan and hear the original ideas. This CD is a masterpiece. A fabulous reproduction of a near flawless album. So tight, so alive and now you can hear the detail again. RUN BUY NOW!

Landmark Early 80's Classic Not Yet Surpassed
No matter what you may think of the early New Romantic Scene (Adam Ant, OMD, New Order) Japan's 'Tin Drum' was (and still is) the most musical, organic and sophisticated statement of the lot. Not only are the songs strong, the Grove- Fusion rhythms and eastern influenced textures create inspiring arrangements that left the rest of the pack behind. Their copy cat rivals, Duran Duran stole their look but couldn't compete with Japan either musically or philosophically.
