SMPTe songs Product Information
SMPTe album for sale by Transatlantic was released Mar 21, 2000 on the Metal Blade label. The obvious label to put on this band is "supergroup," because it consists Roine Stolt of The Flower Kings, Neal Morse of Spock's Beard, Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater, and Pete Trewavas of Marillion, but that would imply that this is just another jam session. Despite the fact that these gifted musicians put this session together rather quickly, there is a natural cohesiveness and maturity that would suggest that they have been playing together for years. SMPTe CD music contains a single disc with 5 songs. ...See Full Description

SMPTe album for sale Huge prog/DT fan, and Rush was my first big influence for guitar. This CD is really cool... Its kind of old school prog (Yes, Floyd, Genesis... )meets the Beatles and it works.

||Gateway into 'The New'.|
SMPTe album for sale With 2000 upon us and music in a state of limbo, along comes the Millenium's 1st supergroup 'Transatlantic' with a debut few bands would dare to follow.

||Great debut effort by these vets|
SMPTe CD music An excellent CD that is full of wonderful songwriting, and brilliant composition. I expected a "good" effort by these veteran artists, but was overwhelmed by the quality of this recording.

||Amazing performance by an all-star cast.|
I got to know the Transatlantic project through the Dream Theater website, a long time ago. When I listened to the CD, I was simply baffled.

||Prog-Rock orphans finally have a home|
Outstanding material from outerspace band members. Instead of nodding their heads to the predictable 21th century musical scene, these great musicians chose some magnificent brighter way to tell us that there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

||I owe this album big time|
This is the release that introduced me to Neal Morse. After 30 years listening to Tull, Rush, Max Webster., It Bites, i bought this en spec and played it once without catching on.

i had high hopes considering portnoy was part of this debacle but i was let down. the music, IMHO, is tired, played out, and most of all cheesy.

||A modem day supergroup|
Being a fan of Dream Theater, I raised an eyebrow when Mike Portnoy announced he has this side project. After some hesitation, I borrowed the CD from a friend for a listen.
