Linda Ronstadt CD is great. I used to have this in an album, and we all know what happened to record players. Was thrilled to get it on CD, and so promptly from CD Universe. By dtrudgeon (Houston, Texas)
I'm a true Linda Ronstadt fan.. Loved Linda Ronstadt from all the way back to her Stone Poney days, and consider this CD her BEST. Sure she has had several other incredible CDs (Heart Like A Wheel, and Simple Dreams to name a few), however this is Linda at her absolute finest! I LOVE THIS ALBUM! By Paul (Weymouth, MA)
Shivers Every time I hear her sing "Lo siento mi vida" she sends shivers down my spine. And I love it ! By breugelmans.leo (Schoten, Belgium - Europe)
One of her best As time goes by, it becomes more and more apparent what a subversive artist Linda Ronstadt was during her hit-making days. By monsoonguy1 (Phoenix, AZ) This review is for a different format.
| First-rate album from Linda Ronstadt improved by Mofi! This 1976 album is the third remastered title by Linda Ronstadt from sound experts Mobile Fidelity. The CD is a nice mix of rock, pop and country just like its predecessors "Don't Cry Now" & "Prisoner in Disguise." Ronstadt sings effortlessly as usual and the backing is superb. Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 CD (1976) Top Seller
Hasten Down the Wind album for sale Unlike the crop of West Coast artists with whom she was associated (e.g., the Eagles, Jackson Browne), Linda Ronstadt is a singer, pure and simple. Her extraordinary, clarion voice enabled her to distinguish herself as an interpreter of other people's songs in an era that prized the singer/songwriter. Whether she sang country, straight-ahead pop, '50s rockers, or even soul, the results were contagious. This package provides the essentials from the Golden Age of Ronstadt, the early- to mid-'70s, when she ruled the radio.
All her major chart hits are here, from "Different Drum" with her pre-solo-career group, the Stone Poneys, to the country-rock of "Desperado" to her sprightly renditions of hits by Buddy Holly (That'll Be the Day") and the Everly Brothers ("When Will I Be Loved.") She belts her way through the soul classic "Heat Wave," and turns in an aching cover of Smoky Robinson's "Tracks of My Tears" that does ample justice to that poignant ballad. "You're No Good," perhaps her signature song of the era, captures all of the things that characterize her work: a strong melody, imaginative arrangement and crisp production, all carried by that inimitable voice.

What's New CD (1983) Top Seller
Hasten Down the Wind buy CD music Unless you count Ringo Starr's SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY, 1983's WHAT'S NEW, the first of three albums Linda Ronstadt recorded with arranger Nelson Riddle, is perhaps the first major attempt by a bona fide rock artist to come to terms with the Great American Songbook of the Gershwins, Rodgers & Hart, Cole Porter and the other great songwriters who set the musical tone for American life and love before the advent of rock & roll. Possessed of considerable yet unpretentious vocal chops, Ronstadt is a good candidate for this formidable task. She clearly reveres this music and acquits herself winningly by turning in a well-chosen, well-performed set of familiar Sinatra and Billie Holiday-associated songs. Riddle's arrangements lightly support the singer and never upstage her. This late in the game, the master arranger's famous taste is fully in evidence.

Simple Dreams CD (1977) Top Seller
Hasten Down the Wind songs This was the fourth in a series of hit albums Linda Ronstadt made in the mid-seventies, starting with HEART LIKE A WHEEL. Like its predecessors, SIMPLE DREAMS is a rich collection of pensive folk ballads, pop with country leanings, and good old rock & roll. Her skill in navigating this rootsy terrain is exemplary, taking her from the swagger of her cover of The Rolling Stones' "Tumbling Dice" to the sweet whisperings of the acoustic "Maybe I'm Right." This record also features some of her most enduringly popular hits, such as "Blue Bayou" and "Poor Poor Pitiful Me."
The rousing opening track, Buddy Holly's "It's So Easy" featuring her trademark growl, along with "Tumbling Dice" and the playful "Poor Poor Pititul Me," give the record moments of electrifying energy. It's the ballads, however, that comprise the majority of the tunes. Included are two traditional songs, "I Never Will Marry" (featuring Dolly Parton) and "Old Paint," both given simple but lovely arrangements by Ronstadt herself. The melodramatic "Sorrow Lives Here" is almost a hint of what is to come in the form of her collaborations with Nelson Riddle. Her artistry is perhaps best demonstrated in "Blue Bayou;" the shift from the quiet and husky verse to the yearning wail that is the chorus is nothing short of breathtaking.

Best of Linda Ronstadt: The Capitol Years CDs (2006)
Hasten Down the Wind CD music Throughout this 46-track compilation, the honey-voiced Ronstadt showcases her interpretive skills on vibrant covers of songs by Randy Newman ('"Bet No One Ever Hurt This Bad"), Fred Neil ("The Dolphins") Johnny Cash ("I Still Miss Someone"), and James Taylor ("You Can Close Your Eyes"), to name but a few artists. Ronstadt would play genre hop-scotch in the years to come, but these four early albums are an example of some her finest, most focused efforts, and a quintessential document of the Laurel Canyon sound.
Import-only two CD compilation of Linda Ronstadt's early solo recordings for the Capitol Records label. This double disc set includes all four of Linda's solo LPs released between 1969 through 1974, as well as five previously unreleased studio and live tracks. Contains the groundbreaking album Hand Sown.. Home Grown (1969), Silk Purse (1970), Linda Ronstadt (1971) and Heart Like A Wheel (1974), which is generally considered to be Linda's greatest album. 46 tracks including the hits 'You're No Good', 'When Will I Be Loved?' and many others. EMI.
A two-disc set that presents four of Linda Ronstadt's earliest albums in their entirety, THE CAPITOL YEARS also takes the extra step of including a number of bonus tracks. While HAND SOWN...HOME GROWN and SILK PURSE find the young California-based singer, formerly of the Stone Poneys, working in a more straightforward country/folk vein, her 1972 self-titled record and HEART LIKE A WHEEL reveal an artist who has found her niche in the breezy, country-tinged rock of the era. (In fact, Ronstadt's backing band on her eponymous outing soon became the Eagles.)
Personnel: Linda Ronstadt (vocals).

Don't Cry Now CD (1973)
Hasten Down the Wind buy CD music This major 1973 release finds Ronstadt still solidifying her position as rock's premier interpretive singer. The country rock of the Eagles and producer/writer John David Souther remains the idiom, but Ronstadt has the voice, style and background to deliver this commercialized roots music with little loss of authenticity. Unlike Bonnie Raitt or Janis, she is relatively free of blues or R&B influence. In another singer this might seem a liability, but it allows Rondstadt unusually direct access to the emotional wellsprings of the country and folk which defined post-sixties rock music. Whether on the Eagles' own "Desperado," the country warhorse "Silver Threads And Golden Needles" or Neil Young's "I Believe In You," Rondstadt's powerful contralto emerges as a representative voice of a musical generation just coming of age.

Linda Ronstadt CD (1971)
Hasten Down the Wind songs Capturing the same laid-back, cosmic country feel as the Flying Burrito Brothers, Emmylou Harris, and the early Eagles, Ronstadt takes songs like Jackson Browne's "Rock Me On The Water," Neil Young's "Birds," Eric Andersen's "I Ain't Always Been Faithful," and country standards like "I Fall To Pieces," and makes them her own. Though she would go on to become one of the biggest rock stars of the decade, she would rarely make music that was as honest, heartfelt or satisfying as that on LINDA RONSTADT.
Reissue of Ronstadt's 1971 and third solo album. The album features session musicians who later went on to form The Eagles. Includes covers of Jackson Browne, Neil Young, Johnny Cash and Woody Guthrie. Capitol.
This 1971 album--the third solo outing by the former Stone Poneys vocalist (the Stone Poneys scored a big hit with Mike Nesmith's "Different Drum" in 1967)--established Linda Ronstadt as one of the leading lights of the West Coast country-rock scene of the early '70s. Given sympathetic accompaniment by musicians like pedal steel guitarist Sneaky Pete and future Eagles Glen Frey, Bernie Leadon, Randy Meisner, and Don Henley, Ronstadt's rich, expressive voice works wonders on this fine collection of folk-influenced country-rock.
Personnel: Linda Ronstadt (vocals); Glenn Frey, Richard Bowden, Tippy Armstrong, Bernie Leadon (guitar); John Boylan (acoustic guitar); Herb Pedersen, Sneaky Pete Kleinow, Weldon Myrick, Buddy Emmons (steel guitar); Dean Webb (mandolin); Gib Guilbeau (fiddle); Jimmie Fadden (harmonica); Barry Beckett (keyboards); David Hood, Lyle Ritz, Randy Meisner, Mike Bowden (bass instrument); Don Henley, Roger Hawkins (drums); J.D. Souther, Merry Clayton (background vocals).
