John Wayne leads the way in an exciting action adventure about big game hunters in Africa. The wildlife photography is top-notch and there's just enough of a story to bridge the action sequences. John Wayne stars as Sean Mercer, a tough trapper who travels the world to capture animals and sell them to zoos. As he and his ragtag crew roam the plains of Africa searching for giraffes and zebras, they encounter Anna Maria "Dallas" D'Allesandro (Elsa Martinelli), a beautiful photographer who asks to travel with them. While the crew presses on, the excitement of the chase inevitably causes feelings of attraction to grow between gruff Mercer and pretty Dallas. Stunning wildlife photography colors this classic from legendary director Howard Hawks. Filmed on location in Tanganyika, East Africa.

My husband and I liked the movie, it was entertaining. But the sound quality was not as good as we would have wished.

If you are a "DUKE" fan this is one movies you must have. A terrific cast, great scenery and lots of action.... by both animals and humans! One of my FAVORITES!!

I received your DVD, and it is with regret that I could not use it as it was a regional 1 code DVD, which will not play on European code 2 players.
I appreciate your way of conducting business and I would come back when your DVD's can be ordered with regional 2 code.
I have search around the european web, but could only find HATARI on video tape not on DVD.

great movie
I SAW THIS MOVIE WHEN I WAS A KID.THEN I DID'NT SEE IT FOR YEARS FINALLY FOUND IT ON VHS. I WAS ALWAYS A JOHN WAYNE FAN,THIS ONE GETS AWAY FROM THE COWBOY STUFF FOR AWHILE. ITS FUNNY,GRET CHASE SEENS ,ALOT FORM THE PERSPCTIVE OF THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLES, ORTHE CATCHERS. GOOD CAMERA SHOTS OF ANIMALS.IT EVEN HAS A LITTLE LOVE INTEREST!

Frank Pierce (Bruce Cabot) is a ruthless man bent on manipulating the cattle business towards his own wealth and prosperity. When Taw Jackson (John Wayne), an honest rancher, interferes with his plans, Pierce imprisons him and confiscates his gold-filled land. The hilarious DONOVAN'S REEF, one of John Ford's rare but memorable forays into comedy, is set on the South Sea island of Haleakoloha, where two navy buddies have decided to stay after World War II.
