Bio/Filmographies; Soundtrack English; Director's Comments Ruggero Deodato directed this cannibal movie just before his classic CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, the acme of the popular Italian cannibal subgenre of horror films and generally considered the most disgusting and vile movie ever made. Massimo Foschi and Ivan Rassimov star as Robert and Rolf, two scientists working for an oil company who lead an expedition to an island near South America. Soon after arriving, things begin to go awry, as they gradually begin to realize that they are trapped in the jungle with an ancient cannibalistic tribe. When two members of the team are captured, along with the entire advance team, Robert and Rolf must find a way to infiltrate the cannibals' camp and free their soon to be eaten friends.
Though JUNGLE HOLOCAUST does not have the amount of gore that gave CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST its notoriety, it is considered by many to be a superior film. Like its successor, it features a host of gruesome, inventive, and sickeningly realistic cannibal sequences, as well as laughable dialogue, gratuitous nudity, and a potent sense of dread, making it a cult favorite and an incredibly shocking experience. Jungle Holocaust Movie Review Average Rating: (3.9 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Cannibal Holocaust: The Beginning A film by Ruggero Deodato (Cannibal Holocaust). A plane crashes in the jungle. One of the survivors named Robert Harper (Massimo Foschi) gets lost and while trying to find a way out of the jungle he gets captured by cannibals. He is humiliated, stripped naked, and thrown in a hole with a bird for a while. Eventually, he escapes with the help of a beautiful cannibal girl named Pulan (Me me Lai) and tries to find his plane so he can go home. This is one of my favorite cannibal movies along with Cannibal Holocaust that in my mind is the KING of all cannibal movies that lives up to its name in being the most Controversial movie ever made. Jungle Holocaust is presented for the first time in America Uncut and Unrated released by Shriek Show on DVD. The movie comes with 10 lobby cards that are Extremely detailed. I recommend this movie to any one who likes Cannibal movies, Exploitation movies, and Horror movies. This is a most have for any fan of Euro-Exploitation movie fan. DVD features for this movie are Available Audio Tracks: English (Dolby Digital 2.0), Commentary by From Director Ruggero Deodato, Rare Production Stills, Posters and Promotional Materials From Around the World, and Director Commentary. This movie is also called and is known as Cannibal Holocaust: The Beginning. I think one of the best things about this movie except for the blood and gore is the amazing Music and graphics of the jungle and the wild life. Jungle holocaust a bit lacking This is not a bad movie. I give it an average rating because the plot is rather dull and predictable. Some of the jungle scenes, however, are quite beautiful in contrast with the brutality of the animal life. Finally, the depiction of the practices and traditions of the tribespeople is quite insightful. Submitted by belaghastly (Saskatoon, Sk. Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Much Better then Cannibal Holocaust This movie was much better then Cannibal Holocaust I felt. The acting was portrayed much better and it was much more believeable then Cannibal Holocaust. Too me, realism makes for a better movie then an outrageous story, although Cannibal Holocaust is extremly more graphic, I thought Jungle Holocaust was better played out as far as acting, but the gore content still goes to Cannibal Holocaust. Both good Cannibal movies though! Submitted by Stacey (Manteca, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Deodato's first trip to the jungle A couple of years before seminal "Cannibal Holocaust", Ruggero Deodato directed a more underrated but nonetheless wonderful cannibal movie. "Last Cannibal World", here realeased as "Jungle Holocaust" shows beautiful landscapes (Deodato's trademark in lots of his films) as well as some utterly violent scenes. This is also a great edition, with lots of interesting extras and excellent sound and image! Submitted by a reviewer (Lisbon, Portugal) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
