$15.25 The sole album released by this group from Montreal, Et Cetera ranks among the finest items in Quebec progressive rock and remains a sought-after collector's item. The group benefited from a sleek production that enhances its rich arrangements and complex contrapuntal lines. This is as close as any derivative prog rock band got to Gentle Giant. Besides emulating the technique of their illustrious British masters, the Montrealers tapped into the essence of Giant-esque counterpoint and vocal harmony. Mostly detectable in "Et la Musique Tourne," "claircie," and "Newton Avait Raison," this influence is not the only point of reference here. Et Cetera adds a brand of jazz-rock also found in the music of a few other Quebec groups at the time, especially Maneige and Sloche. The music is dominated by Marie Bernard's keyboards and voice. Her soloing ability on the mini-Moog ranks high among her male European counterparts, while her use of Ondes Martenot gives the music a unique flavor. One of the first ...

$10.15 THE ARTISTSThe Hollywood Guitar Duo is Scott Morris and Isamu Nakashio. The two began playing together in 1999 as members of a guitar quartet performing in Hawaii. The group included guitarist Benjamin Verdery whom they both studied with at Yale University. In 2001, Mr. Nakashio moved to Los Angeles from New York and they began rehearsing. The duo immediately started performing concerts to very enthusiastic audiences. Upcoming performances include concerts in several major U.S. cities, Costa Rica, and Asia.Scott Morris Scott Morris began playing the guitar at the age of nine. At the age of seventeen he moved to Los Angeles and began studying with John Dearman of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. He received his Bachelor's degree from the Thornton School of Music at USC, a Master's degree form yale University, and his Doctorate of Musical Arts from Claremont Graduate University. He also holds diplomas from the Mozarteum Summer Academy in Salzburg, Austria, and the Musician's Institute in Hollywood, California. Scott spent three summers studying at the Aspen Music Festival with Sharon Isbin. His main teachers have been William Kanengeiser, Scott Tennant, Jack Sanders, Pepe Romero, Ben Verdery, and Sharon Isbin. As an undergraduate, he stayed in his hometown of Buffalo and holds a B.M. in Music Performance from SUNY-Buffalo. While at U.B. he won the 1996 Baird Concerto Competition and had his early marimba compositions published by Studio 4 Music/Alfred. Christopher moved to New England in 1997 where he received his M.M. in Music Performance from The Hartt School. He followed this with a second M.M. in Composition from Hartt. His primary percussion teachers were Jan Williams, Anthony Miranda, and Benjamin Toth. He had specialized study with Alexander Lepak (timpani), Luiz D’Anuniciação (Brazilian), Glen Velez (hand drums), and Johnny Almendra (Afro-Cuban). His composition instructors include Robert Carl, Ingram Marshall, Stephen Gryc, Kenneth Steen, and Jeffrey Stadelman. Mr. Swist is the principal percussionist of the New Britain Symphony. He has also played with: Hartford Symphony, Ridgefield Symphony, Waterbury Symphony, New Haven Symphony, Eastern Connecticut Symphony, Norwalk Symphony, Bridgeport Symphony, Opera Theater of Connecticut, New Britain Opera and numerous other groups throughout New England. He has performed with Joshua Bell, Midori, The Empire Brass and several other premier soloists on the symphonic circuit. He has collaborated with several modern dance organizations including: Full Force Dance Theater, The Wellspring Project, Connecticut Choreographers Forum, and Dance Connecticut. His solo CD “Whitewater” was released in 2001 and was funded through a grant from the Yvar Mikhashoff Trust for New Music. Christopher Swist has publications with Studio 4 Music, Keyboard Percussion Publications and Edition Svitzer. He also has an endorsement from Sabian, Ltd. Christopher has taught percussion, theory and composition at Keene State College since 2003. He also is on faculty at Holyoke Community College and the Hartt School Community Division. He was the percussion instructor at Bennington College from 1998-2002.
