Gaucho album for sale Product Description

Gaucho album for sale by Steely Dan was released Mar 23, 2004 on the MCA/Chronicles label. Probably the most critically revered band of the 70s, Steely Dan's brand of slick pop with a dose of jazz/funk left a meagre but vital catalogue to cling on to. Gaucho CD music This was their last gasp at the onset of the 80s. Gaucho buy CD music Perhaps they were aware of the fact that they were too 70s for the 80s. This was their least accessible and most mature album (no criticism is intended), as the content washes over the listener like a warm shower. Gaucho CD music contains a single disc with 7 songs.   ...See Full Description

Greatness...
This is a great experience for any Steely Dan fan. The later Dan albums from that era, Aja and Gaucho are known for heavy production and a good deal of nuance and depth... that's what makes them conducive to repeated listening. The DVD-A version of Gaucho spreads out the instrumentation so you can hear nuance that was never heard before. The strangest part in my opinion is hearing Fagen's voice so isolated from the mix... it's clear why they covered him up with many layers of production.

A classic done right
This classic needs not much in the way of re-mixing, but this 5.1 is very well done. You'll hear sounds that you have not been able to hear to this point which makes this classic a reborn masterpiece... .... especially in a car.

Awesome sound
The 5.1 mix nicely spreads out the original instrumentation. One thing that stood out is the brass in 'Hey Nineteen': with the words "no we can't dance together... no we can't talk at all" the additional brass alters the chords that go with these words - something that I don't recall ever hearing on the original mix. Not sure if I like this addition after having listened to this album for 26 years.

Sunday morning music
Pristine production, sinuous melodies and world-weary lyrics: Steely Dan cornered the market on Seventies' jaded cool. Their last album before a two-decade hiatus, Gaucho is clever but spare. Donald Fagen's slightly whiny but wise vocals amble along, counterpointed by smooth harmonies courtesy of the creme de la creme of session singers - notably the sublime Patti Austin and Valerie Simpson. Although the rest of the album never reaches the heights of the opener "Babylon Sisters," it still makes for the best hangover CD: something to get you back to the land of the living after a night of living it up too much.

Overperfected
When I bought the vinyl it was great. The cd made me decide: this was it. You can not over do this. The DTS does! The 5.1 mix of this brilliant piece of art makes me fall of my chair. More dynamics all over (and great drumsound by Steve Gadd and Jeff Porcaro) and it gives me the warmest feelings hearing Patti Austin from the corner behind me "You got to shake it baby you got to shake it... ." Timeless music with a new dimension. I love it.

Dan's swansong
This is another fine album from the Dan, but it represents the end point of the project they started on 'Aja'. The album is full of sad, pathetic characters but unlike Royal Scam - which was similarly populated - the sharp social observation is replaced with a black, world-weary cynicism. "... living hard will take its toll. ." and indeed the album articulates the early80s landscape of hedonism and jadedness perfectly. A fine end to a fantastic career.

Another masterpiece!!
Absolutely brilliant! I have heard alot of rock and roll and a lot of jazz-but this CD is the best combination of the two genres in this or any other millenium. Don and Walter are at the top of their game here. Please buy and listen~~ for full enjoyment turn to full volume on a great system.

GET BLOWN AWAY WITH GAUCHO SACD
What a great album hard to follow up after AJA. But GAUCHO certainly delivers more of the same smooth horns and great jazz/rock/funk renouned from the 70's. After playing AJA in cd formate and loving it for its content in stereo and its near vinyl warmth ,your jaw drops when Gaucho starts in multi channel SACD. WOW this is what music bliss is all about. If you want a great album to judge sacd's against cd's and vinyl this is it. If your like me and like being up on the stage with the band Gaucho will put you there. I'm going to retire my multi thousand dollar turntable and record collection. Now that I own Gaucho in SACD formate I've never heard better.

A must have disc
This SACD surround version makes a great album into a perfect album. I have the DTS version also and I must say the SACD is much more detailed and exciting to hear.

The return of the kings
This has always been one of my best albums in my collection (stereo i mean) and now im confronted with a 5.1 DTS version of this masterpiece. Well, what can i say, the disc starts with the music coming from the front speakers, the bass is more smoother and the mix more richer (cleaned up basically) then the surround mix gradualy begins to come in before the lead vocals start... oh, you will have a big grin on your face when you hear the surround... it's a very wonderful mix indeed and you will find yourself going back to the original stereo version to check if everything you are hearing is acctually in the original, it is dont worry. the backing vocals are so clear in the rear channels that you can almost see there faces and the horns are so crisp that i could smell there aftershave... if you have a surround system (it must be DTS compatable) then you MUST buy this disc, even if your not a steely dan fan you will not be let down with the overall sound quality and attention to detail to the band. this is my 1st 5.1 surround audio disc, it wont be my last. steely dan are the kings of jazz/rock, with this disc the kings have returned, long live the kings!!! steve sutton.

Comment to other reviewer
Yeah, "Gaucho" is a very sad song, and could be named as their swan song; Steely Dan's last studio album of the seventies.

Like being there
The SACD version of Gaucho is so clear, that it's like having the band playing in my family room. If you like Steely Dan this is one SACD Surround CD that you need to have.

Excellent lyrics
I heard "Gaucho" on the radio and I thought, I must have that. You can't go wrong with these lyrics: Bodacious cowboys Such as your friend Will never be welcome here High in the Custerdome The whole CD makes me swoon.

One of the few...
It is not often that an artist manages to record his/her inner art, but when it happens, we know it. Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Shirley Horn, Phoebe Snow and others like these have given music lovers the gift of unbridaled creativity in action. We love them for it. Here is one more example of massive creative talent... Steely Dan. It is impossible for me to say who, in the world of modern music, has combined so skillfully the elements of jazz, rock, and R&B like Donald Fagen & company. This CD as all of the Steely Dan disks are as much products of their time as they are a products of great skill and passion. They sing volumes about much of the music made in the 70"s that was so progressive. Most of this music was much less popular, but Fagen seemed to "Hit" the nail on the head every time with a string of albums that were both lyrical and musical gems with mass appeal and that continue to maintain a sparkling identity even today. Great music never dies. Add life to your collection, buy this disk and check out others by the artist. I'd like to suggest AJA and Pretzel Logic. Enjoy... EHOWORLD@VERIZON. NET.

A masterpiece CD
Steely Dan's Gaucho is a masterpiece! Besides Aja, Gaucho's songs are impeccably phrased, highly sophisticated, "it's the perfection and grace... it's the smile on my face" It reveals Donald's and Walter's geniuses. I, for one, have the song "Gaucho" as the most impressive highly sophiticated song I've ever heard. Its melody went deeply into my soul. This CD is part of my life since 1980. I strongly recommend it to all music and harmony lovers. Cheers!
