Leaping back into action gun-slinging guitar-toting hero "El Mariachi" is back in town in ONCE UPON A TIME IN MEXICO as director Robert Rodriguez delivers the epic final chapter of his pulp Western trilogy. Starring Antonio Banderas Salma Hayek Johnny Depp Mickey Rourke Eva Mendes Enrique Iglesias and Willem Dafoe ONCE UPON A TIME IN MEXICO is a full-frontal assault. Running time: 102 minutes. Rated R. Widescreen presentation. With ONCE UPON A TIME IN MEXICO, filmmaker Robert Rodriguez follows the further adventures of El Mariachi (Antonio Banderas), the guitar-and-gunslinging hero who has been leading a quiet life, but longs to get revenge for the murder of his love (Salma Hayek). When quirky CIA agent Sands (Johnny Depp) roots out El Mariachi for a special assignment, he comes out with pistols blazing. Soon, a retired FBI agent (Ruben Blades), a drug kingpin (Willem Dafoe), a criminal on the run (Mickey Rourke), and a double-dealing federale (Eva Mendes) are all in on the action, which involves a plot to kill the Mexican president and shift the balance of power in Mexico.
Handling the writing, direction, cinematography, and just about everything else, Rodriguez has crafted a tribute to the spaghetti Western films of Sergio Leone by placing his outlaw hero from DESPERADO and EL MARIACHI in an epic setting populated by numerous characters. Although it can be challenging to keep track of the unfolding subplots, the scenes involving Depp's badly dressed secret agent are the most intriguing and entertaining. Meanwhile Banderas eases back into the lead as the vengeful Mariachi, and Hayek and Blades make the most of their small but significant roles. Theatrical Release: SEPTEMBER 10, 2003 Once Upon A Time In Mexico Reviews: "...The joy that Rodriguez takes in each shot is palpable..."
-- Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly "...Mr. Rodriguez has a feverish, inventive eye, and an ability to infuse digital video, so often flat and grainy, with uncommon depth and luster..."
-- A. O. Scott, New York Times "...[An] entertainingly quirky film....A swaggering fantasy that pays homage to spaghetti Westerns such as Sergio Leone's THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY..."
-- Claudia Puig, USA Today "...What bubbles beneath all of Rodriguez's work is an impatient joy in the act of filmmaking..."
-- Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times "...You don't want to miss Depp in this movie -- he knocks it out of the park..."

The best third El Marachi sequel trilogy movie ever! 2003's Once Upon A Time In Mexico is another excellent Antonio Banderas flick since 1995's Desperado. With only the original main three characters returning in the movie from Desperado. Cheech Marin is back but this time he now plays a criminal hustler outlaw who use to be the mexician bartender owner from the second trilogy Desperado. Now he's telling the same legendary story tale just like Steve Buscemi did in Desperado. On how he too encounter and first met El Marachi to Johnny Depp. Depp a new fresh face plays an american tourist traveller in mexico also portrays a gunshooting criminal bad guy. Which he orders this kind of spanish dinner food he enjoys having. And likes to shoot and kill the cooks while their making to prepare his meal for him in the restaurant's kitchen just for fun only. After that when he's done eating his supper or lunch whatever in this flick. Salma Hayek returns also as the El Marachi's girlfriend. Three scenes in this movie show Banderas who comes back as the well known famous gunslinging guitar playing musician has flashbacks. And he remembers before his girlfriend got murdered and killed. When she was alive they escape out of this hotel room and jump through the hotel buildings window. They decides to leap from there on to a travelling moving bus with the awsome stunts in the movie. Especially the gunshooting special effects explosion formula scene that were in Desperado were really good. There's four new faces in this movie as well William Dafoe, Mickey Rourke, latin singer Enrique Iglesias as El Marachi's sidekick brother and hispanic actor Ruben Blades.
Which he plays a former special forces F.B.I. agent in it. At the end of this movie he finds out that why his girlfriend was murdered? And so it was this mexician army military general who did it for sure and his gang leader soldiers squad team who was with him also. Witnessing the death of his late girlfriend who loved and took care of the El Marachi. The last scene is where the final part where Banderas remembers that his latin lover girlfriend asks El Marachi "What Do You Want Out Of Life". And then El Marachi says to her "Freedom!".

Johnny Depp is the coolest bad buy ever This movie was pretty cool, but Johnny Depp just stole the whole show with his performance. Everyone talked about his role in "Pirates..." the same year, and as much as I enjoyed that one, I think his work in "Once..." was much better. I can't think of a character that was played as well as the one in this film. He plays a really dirty DEA (I believe)agent that you can't help but like, if not for his sarcasm his sheer determination.
Antonio, Enrique, Eva, and Willam all play their roles to perfection. This film had a great story to it, but I felt it moved a tad too slow. What's up with not much Salma either? Hopefully she had other commitments, b/c they totally blew it with what they did with her character.
Enough complaining...this was one of my favorite films of 2003, and Depp's performance was one of my favorites in history. Submitted by Mike (Grand Forks) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.

$11.19 A good-looking pack of werewolves that has ruled Bucharest for 5,000 years becomes threatened when one among them begins to question the traditions they have adhered to over the centuries. Vivian (Agnes Bruckner, DREAMLAND) is a teenage werewolf whose destiny has been tied to her pack since she was orphaned at a young age. The pack's menacing leader, Gabriel (Olivier Martinez, BEFORE NIGHT FALLS), has designs on Vivian, and hopes to make her his next wife, while the rest of Vivian's "family" keeps a close watch on her every move. This makes things difficult when Vivian, against her better judgment, begins a tentative relationship with Aiden (Hugh Dancy, THE JANE AUSTEN BOOK CLUB), a graphic artist who has come to the city to study the mythical loup-garou for his next book. Vivian tries to keep her growing love a secret, but when Gabriel discovers that she has feelings for a human, he sets off a chain of events that threaten to destroy the pack--or change its bloodthirsty ways. Vivian and the extraordinary Aiden--who manages to outwit the loup-garou in ways they never thought possible--are forced to go on the run, but they must eventually ...
