Rebel Meets Rebel album for sale Product Description

Rebel Meets Rebel album for sale by Rebel Meets Rebel was released May 02, 2006 on the Big Vin label. In the 1970s, you had "outlaw country," in the '80s, "cowpunk," but they'll need a new and original stylistic descriptor for 2006's REBEL MEETS REBEL, a no-holds-barred collaboration between hard-living, outlaw country legend David Allan Coe and three-quarters of Texas thrash-metal heroes Pantera. Recorded before Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott's shocking onstage murder in 2004, this album matches Abbott's slamming metal riffs with Coe's unapologetic tough-guy stance, a combination that makes perfect thematic and musical sense. Rebel Meets Rebel CD music contains a single disc with 12 songs.   ...See Full Description

I love this album it's a great addition to the Dimebag legacy and you can really see what an awsome guitarist he is.

Excellent Collaboration
Talk about your genre mash-ups, this collaboration between outlaw country singer David Allan Coe, the late Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell and his brother, drummer Vinnie Paul, is a raucous good time and not as unlikely as it might seem when you consider the Akron, OH-born Coe got his start as a performer opening for Grand Funk Railroad. It's all about drinking ("No Compromise"), drugging ("Cowboys Do More Dope") and sex ("One Nite Stands"), but also loss of innocence ("Arizona Rivers") and even Native American rights ("Cherokee Cry"), where Coe belies the charges of racism that have followed him around since his notorious 1982 song "N*gger F*cker," which he always denied. The title track adds in a mean sawing fiddle and some pumping keyboards, while "Get Outta My Life" features a cameo by yet another genre-buster in Hank Williams III. It's a posthumous showcase for ace axe man Dimebag's snake-winding riffs, which wrap themselves around Coe's hell-bent persona, as the one-time Mysterious Rhinestone Cowboy is right at home with the metallic crunch at the heart of his rebel country yell, as the contemplative "N.Y.C. Streets" adds a somber expletive-laced epitaph to a left-field project that turns out to be right over the middle of the plate.

Pure Joy
This is one of the greatest albums of the new millennium, and definitely the best thing Vinnie and Darrell have played on since Pantera's Vulgar Display of Power. Outlaw country and full-on headbanging metal mix together perfectly on this album, where neither the Pantera guys nor David Allan Coe change their respective styles all that much to fit the other. There really is nothing like this out there; it's totally unique. It's such a joy to listen to, it could almost make you cry, if you had a few beers in you. Truly great.

I got my copy of this today(i live in Australia) from the first second to the last,I was hooked. It's not country, not metal but it's 'just a get together of country metal minds' Dimebag shows his diversity on this album,Rex,Vinnie and Mr. David Allan Coe give awesome performances as well. I'm very happy that this album saw the light of day,I just wish that Darrell could be here to see it.

shown as a great tribute to dime
let's see, this is not straight country and this is not straight metal-what you get here is a rocking album that could set up great for boozing and hell raising (just like the liner notes say).D.A.C. blends well with CFH and the tunes on here can catch you. there are some strong tones in the country vein as well as some set for hard rock for some balance. one thing that i did recognize was a riff in "get outta my life" that sounds close to what pantera did for the dallas stars' theme song. and dime's playing here is diverse-showing blues, picking, and some of his trademark squels in there. there's even some "homemade" sounds in there to show how much fun these guys had with making this album.

Pantera & David Allan Coe are great!!! Sorry Phil
The group Rebel Meets Rebel is a great group from the renegade singer David Allan Coe and 3/4 of the outlaw band Pantera. All 12 tracks are filled with an awesome sound that makes them sound so good. A very bravado song starts in Nothin' To Lose then follows Rebel Meets Rebel which freaking awesome. The sound is great and fantastic and its so heavy. This is a very awesome album, those who don't like it than two words for you SUCK IT! You have to be a tard not to like Rebel Meets Rebel. Its a mix of country and heavy metal. You have an acoustic jam from Dimebag (RIP) and some dumb but catchy lyrics including Cowboys Do More Dope. Don't know if that's true and a very vocals from Hank III in the song Get Outta My Life. All the tracks in here are great! 5 stars, don't know why it isn't the biggest album of they. NO! They don't suck so suck it! Very awesome music & songs.

Music to drink and rock to
if you have an open mind to music and one of your loves is either country or metal you will love this one! But if you are close minded or not open to musical experimentation you will hate it. this is country as metal intended to my mind. Dimes lives on thru his music - thanks Vin!

Sorry, not feeling it.
Mkay, when I first heard that the remaining members of Pantera and Outlaw Country singer David Allan Coe were forming a new band that would mix Country with Metal, I was excited as hell. But when I finally got around to listening to it my opinion changed drastically. And I am saying this as both a lover of Country music and hardcore melt your face off Metal. I just donít think that David Allan Coe's voice contrasts very well with the heavy guitar and quick paced percussion. Both sound good, but for some reason when I listen I want either the music to slow down, or the singing to speed up. David Allan Coe has a very mellow voice, it isn't at all rough and edgy like the music. Though the idea was truly intriguing, for some reason the sound of the music just didn't quite settle right with me.
