Although Michael Schenker is not involved, UFO's 2006 release The Monkey Puzzle sees four-fifths of the classic lineup back in place -- singer Phil Mogg, bassist Pete Way, guitarist/keyboardist Paul Raymond, and drummer Andy Parker are all back on board. While they've taken numerous stabs over the years at replicating the magic of when Schenker is present -- with varying results -- tracks such as "Who's Fooling Who" and "Down by the River" contain the classic UFO sound, and certainly wouldn't have sounded out of place on Lights Out or Obsession. ||NO NECK HERE, BUT PLENTY OF GREAT TUNES!|
This cd reunites 4/5 of the "classic" line-up with the recent return of Andy "No Neck" Parker.11 solid rock anthems which are easily the best thing they've done in 10 years. Some great playing and some interesting twists on the old formula make this album a must own for UFO fans.

||stop it already.....|
this album is weak and boring, much worse then even you are here, which is also boring.... i realize this isnt 1978 but this isnt even close to sounding like ufo....

If you didn't like UFO's "You Are Here" than you won't care for "The Monkey Puzzle". The songs just don't go anywhere, not like the classic seventies stuff with Schenker.

||good listening stuff|
It took me a few listens and then you get into it..this album is great and better than "you are here"

||Still Fying High|

||Schenker only one member of the band|
I see reviews of people still comparing any UFO album to ones with Schenker on them and can't understand them. I agree that UFO put out some great albums with him but his volitile nature and disappearing acts in the middle of tours or recording albums wore thin very quickly.

||Grows on you.|
I was a little dissappointed comparing it to the last album but after a few listens it hasn't left my car.

||poor john in sactown|
take a chill pill john in sactown. this is a rockin cd , remember its not 1979 anymore. yes todays rock does not stand up tp the classic 67-79 era.

||Give it a few listens..You will LOVE it|
I will have to admit when I first played "The Monkey Puzzle" I was a little unsure. I have now listened to it over and over and find it a GREAT cd.

||Nothing Left To Offer|
UFO is spent - most of this disc sounds like tired leftovers from the last one. I give em credit for putting albums out but they just aren't worth buying.

||True Return to Form|
Obviously some of the previous reviewers were on crack or something. I've been a UFO fan since '78 and this is absolutely one of their BEST.

||Maybe it's me but...|
I like this CD a lot. I think Vinnie Morre fits nicely with the boys. These songs a very blues and not as heavy as UFO was years ago.

||who's fooling who..|
simply horrible, it pains me to say this. i'm as big a ufo fan as anybody, but please, i knew without schenker it would'nt be as good, but this is a boring boring album, doesnt come close to the real ufo sound... after these 2 albums with v.

||An apt title, cause I'm sure scratchin' my head on this one!|
If you didn't like "You Are Here", you definately won't like "The Monkey Puzzle". If you did like "You Are Here" and were anxiously awaiting their next effort as I was, you're going to be extremely disapointed.

||ufo still rock|

I've been a fan since "No Heavy Petting" and I think UFO is great - but this recording is not. How did they go from the crunchy, riff-driven "Mr.
By a.cane (Ft.Lauderdale, FL)
The Mogg mans vocals are at their very best but let down by the quality of the writing. - just another UFO album with no stand out tracks.

By Joao Mendes (LISBON - PORTUGAL)
If you liked UFO's last cd "You Are Here" then you'll probably enjoy this release. I had high hopes for "The Monkey Puzzle" but unfortunately I only found a few tracks that I cared for.
By Bobby O ("Charlottesville, VA, USA")

||Classic UFO Sound|
The Monkey Puzzle is UFO's best studio album since 1995's Walk On Water. It is also the first release since Walk On Water with original drummer Andy Parker.
By Tony (Wilkes - Barre, PA.)
I've been a UFO fan since the 80's - this isn't that great. As good as Sharks, but not Walk ON Water.
By Mark (Wallaceburg, ON, Canada)
I dont have this cd, Im not buying this cd, After reading some reviews on this cd I dont want the cd.
By bobricci53 (Bridgewater N.J.)
mogg should know better then to relese this cd... it's horrible, its boring, what ever happened to the real ufo sound, the last 2 cds with vinnie moore have been just terrible, why didnt you go get paul chapman to replace schenker, not vinnie moore, i saw this tour in SF, was not impressed at all... i mean mogg was cool, but it just was'nt UFO... but then again saw ufo on strangers in the nite tour, and nothing will ver top that.
By john (sactown usa)
This is a great cd from start to finish. Some songs are hard and some more slow, but all are very melodic.
By Moondog303 (Rocktown, USA)
This review is for a different format.
