| You cannot cram every essential Elvis recording onto just 2 You cannot limit an "essential" Elvis album to just 2 cd's without leaving off buckets of songs that smany will feel should be included. By joemin (ireland) |
| There's Better Out There The music on this two-disc set is quite good, but if what you want is two discs of the best Elvis, there's a collection called "The Top Ten Hits" which has all 38 of them, with none of the lesser hits, also-rans and filler this collection has. Special Edition; Digipak |
Essential Elvis Presley CD music Given his unparalleled talent for innovative recording, mixing, and soundscaping, producer Sir George Martin has always been rightly referred to as "the fifth Beatle." Some 35 years after the Beatles disbanded, Martin was still shaping the group's music, as demonstrated by the 2006 release LOVE. The album (created to coincide with a Cirque du Soleil performance based on Beatles songs) amounts to a musical fantasia centered on the Beatles' output, with famous work from both early and late in the band's career collaged with great care and artistry.
Martin's relationship to the band gives him a unique perspective (not to mention access to a vast catalogue of multi-track tapes), which results in a shape-shifting overview that encompasses demo recordings, instrumental passages, and snippets from some of the best-loved Beatles tunes. Beatles fanatics will be in seventh heaven playing "name that reference" on this sonic carpet ride, but LOVE also provides something of an "overture" to the Beatles' oeuvre. The SPECIAL EDITION comes with a bonus audio-only DVD featuring the album in various stereo mixes.
Love is the title of the highly successful Cirque du Soleil show featuring the music of the Beatles, currently wowing audiences in Las Vegas. The music for the show, reworked by Sir George Martin and his son Giles, is a continuous soundscape of well-known songs by the Beatles augmented by additional instrumentation and vocals taken from their vast bank of original multi-track tapes. The result is an amazing set reinforcing the timeless quality of the group's recordings destined to open up a new legion of fans to the Beatles experience. The CD includes newly mixed and mastered music plus a 28 page booklet. The audio DVD contains 82 minutes of music both in 5.1 surround sound and stereo.

Beatles Capitol Albums, Vol. 1 CDs (2004)
Essential Elvis Presley buy CD music Includes both stereo and mono versions of the USA-only albums MEET THE BEATLES (1964), THE BEATLES' SECOND ALBUM (1964), SOMETHING NEW (1964), and BEATLES '65 (1964), and a 60 page booklet including rare photos and select quotes from John, Paul, George and Ringo.
All tracks have been digitally mastered using 24-bit technology.
Although America wasn't the first to catch on to the Beatles, it certainly gave the Fabs a worldwide stage from which to launch their pop music invasion. During the space of 12 months in 1964, Capitol released four Beatles LPs that reshuffled various British Parlophone LPs, EPs, and singles. The result of this rejiggering was four unique titles that, along with those famed Ed Sullivan performances, were the introduction to this global phenomenon for millions in the United States. For the 40th anniversary of these releases, this 2004 set represents the first time these titles were ever available on CD, and features both mono and stereo (or "duophonic") versions of all the songs.
Because of the Beatles' enthusiasm, high standards, and synergy, these evergreen tracks crackle and burn, guaranteeing giddy, joyous memories for some, while also enlisting new fans. Among the many classics are the groundbreaking single, "I Want to Hold Your Hand," and other romantic rockers ("I Saw Her Standing There," "She Loves You," "All My Loving"), as well as cover tunes ("Long Tall Sally," "Roll Over Beethoven") and lesser-known songs ("Any Time at All," "I'll Follow the Sun"). The boys had been tirelessly working the nightclub trenches for a number of years prior to these albums, but, in truth, John, Paul, George, and Ringo were just getting started.

Beach Boys Sounds of Summer: The Very Best of the Beach Boys CD (2003) Top Seller
Essential Elvis Presley album for sale This collection perfectly captures on a single disc the career arc of one of America's most important pop groups. Stuffing 30 songs into a small space, SOUNDS OF SUMMER checks in with these West Coast sunshine pop wizards at each phase of their development. There's the early chicks-and-cars, Chuck Berry-influenced material ("I Get Around," "Little Deuce Coupe"), the surf songs on which the Beach Boys' early reputation is based (the genre's national anthem "Surfin' Safari," the surprisingly transcendent "Surfer Girl"), and more.
Of course the celebrated "teenage symphonies to God" era is covered nicely, with such untouchable moments as "God Only Knows," "Good Vibrations," and "Wouldn't It Be Nice." The fact that the band didn't dry up and blow away after the 1960s is not lost on SOUNDS OF SUMMER either, as witnessed by the inclusion of Chuck Berry cover "Rock and Roll Music" and the latter-day summer-fun hit "Kokomo."
Recorded between 1962 & 1988.
Includes liner notes by Anthony DeCurtis.

Supremes #1's CD (2003)
Essential Elvis Presley CD music Recorded between 1964 & 1981. Includes liner notes by Brian Chin.
Though not as critically revered as label-mates Smokey Robinson and Stevie Wonder, the Supremes were the most popular Motown act of the 1960s. Not only did the group rack up a string of #1 singles, that, in terms of frequency and quality often rivaled that of the Beatles, they were one of the first black combos in America to truly achieve mainstream white acceptance.
In many ways, the Supremes' music represented the Motown sound distilled to its essence; Hitsville USA's throbbing bass, relentlessly danceable drum beats, and ingenious arrangements were never so purely and perfectly geared for maximum pop appeal as on early hits such as "Where Did Our Love Go" and "Stop! In the Name of Love." On later, edgier tracks, like "You Keep Me Hangin' On" and "Love Child," the Supremes managed to adapt to the changing times without losing fans. Of course, even the Supremes' massive success couldn't match the superstar status garnered by their lead singer Diana Ross, with her definitive pop-soul classics such as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "Endless Love." THE #1'S comes as advertised, collecting all of the Diana Ross and the Supremes chart-toppers and delivering them with excellent sound and eye-pleasing packaging.
Diana Ross & The Supremes made history: an unprecedented five No. 1 hits in a row, 12 in total in the Sixties. In the Seventies, the group and Miss Ross went their separate ways. The Supremes, with Jean Terrell in the lead, hit No. 1 with Stoned Love. Diana Ross claimed the top spot as a solo artist on various charts nine more times on Motown. In fact, Miss Ross has sung lead on 18 No. 1 Pop hits, second only to The Beatles at 20. The Guinness Book of World Records has also recognized Diana as the most successful female artist of all time, with more than 70 hit singles to date. This new collection of No. 1's covers the full range of Motown excitement, 24 songs spotlighting two of the most influential stars of two decades: Diana Ross and The Supremes! `Diana Ross & The Supremes: The No. 1's' features newly mastered mixes of the classic Supremes hits, direct from the Motown session tapes, for the best fidelity in any Supremes and/or Diana Ross collection ever!

2nd to None CD (2003)
Essential Elvis Presley buy CD music With the international chart-topping success of ELVIS: 30 #1 HITS, the handlers of Elvis Presley's estate attempt to capture lightning in a bottle again with ELVIS: 2ND TO NONE. This compilation does not disappoint, thanks to a mix of number one hits, miscellaneous movie numbers and much-loved favorites. There's even a Paul Oakenfold remix of "Rubberneckin'" that seeks to replicate the success of the JXL radio edit remix of "A Little Less Conversation" from the aforementioned anthology.
With this chronologically arranged track listing, it's interesting to trace the King's musical influences, be it Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup ("That's All Right"), Charlie Feathers ("I Forgot to Remember to Forget"), or Carl Perkins ("Blue Suede Shoes"). Likewise for the stable of songwriters he drew from, including the teams of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller ("Love Me," "Loving You") and Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman ("Little Sister," "A Mess of Blues"). Most impressive are the nuggets plucked off numerous Presley soundtracks, including JAILHOUSE ROCK, FUN IN ACAPULCO, VIVA LAS VEGAS and BLUE HAWAII. Toss in the previously unreleased "I'm a Roustabout," and 2ND TO NONE becomes an essential for diehard and casual Elvis fans alike.
The latest compilation of 30 tracks (all mixed and mastered from the original master tapes for optimum sound quality) will include five additional Presley #1 singles, fan favorites, career milestones and a newly discovered recording 'I Am Roustabout'! Oakenfold's remix of 'Rubberneckin' is sure to be well received among today's generation of music fans and further demonstrates the legacy of Presley's music. BMG.
