Closed Captioned; Soundtrack English; Amaray Case Master director Quentin Tarantino (PULP FICTION) indulges his inner fanboy by paying homage to his favorite B-movies in DEATH PROOF. Stuntman Mike (Kurt Russell) stalks beautiful women with his deadly vintage car, but when he picks a trio of tough girls (Rosario Dawson, Tracie Thoms, and Zoe Bell), he learns they aren't such easy prey. As with any Tarantino film, there are plenty of nods to pop culture. Most of the scenes are deliberately short on plot development, the dialogue comes thick and fast throughout, and the film stock is often cleverly manipulated to perfectly replicate the B-movie aesthetic. DEATH PROOF was originally released as part of the GRINDHOUSE double feature with Robert Rodriguez's PLANET TERROR. Death Proof Reviews: 4 stars out of 5 -- "DEATH PROOF is an utter blast: sexy, spunky and uproarious."-- Matt Mueller, Total Film 3.5 stars out of 4 --- "One of QT's most beautiful films also includes a soundtrack of rare gems."-- Sean Woods, Rolling Stone 4 stars out of 5 -- "[T]he overall effect is quietly subversive. Death Proof Movie Review Average Rating: (3.1 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Brilliant Tarantino! Grindhouse is one of the best horror/gore movies of all time. Tarantino really knows how to make movies. To really enjoy Death Proof, you need to watch Grindhouse as one and not individually(Planet terror, Death Proof). Only purchase individually if you want to see extended versions or deleted scenes of PT or DP. Tarantino Keep bringin it. If you don't like gore/violence than Grindhouse is not for you. 5 stars! NOT ENOUGH ACTION There are a few REALLY good bits in this movie but they are generally too few and far between. Lots of talk though which would be more suited to a Woody Allen movie than here. Yawn. Submitted by Dave (Nottingham) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
An innovative, great and stylish Tarantino film This is a very underrated Tarantino film which deserves much more credit than its usually given. It has humorous and intelligent dialogue combined with great car chase scenes which have been influenced by great car movies of the 70's. The car chase duel scene at the end is one of the greatest and most innovative car chase scenes in any movie. Tarantino uses his vision and combines great elements of film to create a montage of B grade flicks. This was probably Kurt Russel's greatest performance and he did really good job with his leading role. The plot is basically Russel (Stuntman Mike) stalking and destroying women with his death proof car. Three vicious girls finally stand up to him and end up teaching him a lesson by chasing him in a vintage car for a good 10 minutes and end up beating the hell out of him. Tarantino makes his surprise cameo appearance in this film at the bar. Grindhouse and Tarantino collaborated together and made a very stylish car flick which deserves much more credit than audiences usually give it. It was....okay. I found it slightly boring but then again, I would watch it a second time. You'll wait (for what seems like) a lifetime for the action to begin but when it does, you'll be glad you sat through the movie. Submitted by Stephanie F. (Richmond, Virginia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Awesome Ride! This movie is an instant Tarantino classic, and I'm glad it didn't come bundled with Planet Terror, which was the weaker movie of the Grindhouse duo.
This 2-disc set could have really benefited from having the fake trailers from the Grindhouse double feature, but I still have to give it 5 stars. The 2nd disc has some nice bonus material.
Death Proof is easily the best movie I've seen in the past year or so. Great car action, and of course Tarantino's cast of characters deliver. Submitted by Steve (Ohio) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Death Proof review
$11.79 Adapted from Frank Miller's graphic novels, SIN CITY is Robert Rodriguez's striking film noir infused with fantasy, taking place in a world where it is eternally nighttime and everything is drenched in rain and violence. Using a unique combination of silvery black and white digital photography with occasional flashes of bright color for dazzling punctuation, Rodriguez employs green screen techniques and paints a backdrop around each scene, using Miller's co-direction as his cue to match the original setting as closely as possible. Three stories weave together, occasionally overlapping. With lines delivered flatly in the hard-boiled style of Raymond Chandler, these tales are about crime, love, loss, and being preternaturally tough. In the most caustically dramatic segment, Mickey Rourke plays the fearlessly lovestruck Marv, a trenchcoat-clad beast who falls in love with prostitute Goldie (Jaime King) only to find her murdered by a demonic cannibal (Elijah Wood). In another segment, Bruce Willis plays Hartigan, a rogue cop with a "bum ticker" whose goal in life is to save Nancy (Jessica Alba), an innocent stripper, from a murderous rapist (Nick Stahl). The third segment stars Clive Owen as a detective caught between murdered cop Jackie Boy (Benicio Del Toro) and a slew of lethally dangerous vixens lead by Gail (Rosario Dawson). With blood spurting white, yellow, and yes even red; a roster of hot actors that goes on and on; and sound editing that makes you feel like you're the one ...

Death Proof DVD
$9.99 With his new apprentice, Amanda (Shawnee Smith), the puppet master behind the cruel, intricate games that have terrified a community and baffled police has once again eluded capture and vanished. While city detectives scramble to locate him, Doctor Lynn Denlon (Bahar Soomekh) and Jeff (Angus Macfadyen) are unaware that they are about to become the latest pawns on this vicious chessboard. Tobin Bell and Dina Meyer costar. Extras include audio commentaries and deleted scenes.
In 2004, a low-budget horror film about a man who put people with moral failings into grisly, murderous situations became a huge hit. In 2005, the sequel scored again, upping the body count and the terror. In 2006, the franchise continued, with plenty of gore as well as an emotional story line that delved into the psychological makeup of the main characters. As SAW II concluded, Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) was dying. But that doesn't mean his penchant for playing games of torture and violence is ending. In SAW III, the murders start occurring again, and Kerry (Dina Meyer) is back on the case, although she thinks this time it might be the work of a copycat. She's only partly right: Amanda (Shawnee Smith), the only victim to have survived both movies, has joined Jigsaw as his apprentice, leading the way through a terrifying game involving Lynn (Bahar Soomekh), a doctor in an unhappy marriage, and Jeff (Angus Macfadyen), a distraught man who is having trouble getting over the loss of his son (Stefan Georgiou) at the hands of a drunk driver. Amanda has captured Lynn and placed her in a neck brace that is linked to Jigsaw's heart monitor; she must keep Jigsaw alive or else the brace will explode. Meanwhile, Jeff is sent on a dangerous journey on which he faces all the people involved in the light penalty his boy's killer ...

Death Proof movie DVD
$22.15 Based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley, 300 takes over the screen like an invading horde. With all the gushing blood of a horror movie and the scope of a classic epic, the second film from Zack Snyder (who helmed the 2004 remake of DAWN OF THE DEAD) is an impressive visual spectacle. Gerard Butler (THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA) plays Leonidas, the king of ancient Sparta. The city is famous for its warrior philosophy, and Leonidas won't kneel to the demands of Persia's King Xerxes (LOST's Rodrigo Santoro). Instead, Leonidas leads his 300-strong army against Xerxes's army of millions. Meanwhile, his wife (Lena Headley, THE BROTHERS GRIMM) campaigns in Sparta for the city to send reinforcements as she butts heads with the treacherous Theron (Dominic West, THE WIRE).
With its gore and scale, 300 marks director Snyder as a possible successor to Peter Jackson's throne. Jackson also got his start in horror with BAD TASTE and DEAD ALIVE, and the two men share a penchant for ambitious battle scenes. The huge fights in 300 rival Jackson's efforts in the LORD OF THE RINGS films. David Wenham, who starred in two of the Tolkien-based films, plays Dilios, one of the Spartan soldiers. Though the cast doesn't boast any A-list stars, the actors ably fill their larger-than-life roles. In a film filled with men, Headley stands out as Queen Gorgo. She matches her warrior husband in strength, while showing love toward Leonidas and their son. Though there are scenes that demonstrate the humanity of the characters, 300 is undeniably about bravery and blood, ...

$8.45 Director Robert Rodriguez (SIN CITY) pays homage to his favorite B-movies with PLANET TERROR, an old-fashioned zombie film that's infused with enough gore and giggles to please even Peter Jackson (BAD TASTE). Rose McGowan (CHARMED) plays Cherry, a go-go dancer whose night is interrupted by a vicious zombie attack that leaves her missing a leg. Her ex-boyfriend, Wray (Freddy Rodriguez, SIX FEET UNDER), takes charge, fashioning her a new leg from a machine gun and killing zombies along the way. PLANET TERROR plays as a pleasing ode to the horror and exploitation films that once played in grimy grindhouses across the country. Rodriguez splashes plenty of blood, guts, and gore across the screen, while also taking the plot into some wonderfully bizarre territory. PLANET TERROR was originally released as part of the GRINDHOUSE double feature with Quentin Tarantino's DEATH PROOF.

Death Proof film
$14.39 The early 2000s have seen a string of big-budget remakes of classic horror films. In addition to THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and THE HILLS HAVE EYES, John Carpenter's benchmark slasher flick HALLOWEEN has been given a new-millennial overhaul. At the helm of the project sits rocker Rob Zombie, whose previous films, HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES and THE DEVIL'S REJECTS, brought a fan's touch and an auteur's vision to the director's chair. While Zombie's HALLOWEEN is faithful to Carpenter's vision, there are some obvious changes, the most pronounced of these being the substantial focus on Michael Myers's childhood. The film posits Michael (played by a creepily vacant Daeg Faerch) as a troubled child made all the worse by a horrible home life--wonderfully illustrated via William Forsythe's performance as Deborah Myers's boyfriend--and constant abuse at school. Zombie paints Michael's pain with palpable grit and sleaze, but he isn't out to put our culture on the couch--he simply wants to show Michael killing his family. With the exception of Michael's therapy sessions while incarcerated, the film, post-massacre, stays loyal to the original.
Zombie's film is clearly the work of a filmmaker who knows and loves the genre. The director's signature is stamped all over HALLOWEEN (most notably in the use of grainy home movie footage and a smokin' classic rock soundtrack), although ...

Death Proof review
$14.99 Set in Manhattan's Fashion District and hosted by supermodel Heidi Klum, PROJECT RUNWAY distinguishes itself from other reality shows by actually concentrating on talent. While shows like THE APPRENTICE may claim to pick winners on the basis of merit, the decisions of who is eliminated often seem random, or ratings-driven at best. In contrast, PROJECT RUNWAY focuses on the art of fashion design, which requires each contestant to possess technical skills like sewing, draping, and pattern-making, as well as a mastery of design principles and an understanding of what sells. In the third season of the excellent Bravo show, the 15 contestants must create a dress for Miss USA Tara Conner, come up with an ensemble design for Macy's customers, design outfits using materials ...
