On Little Brother's third studio album GETBACK, 9th Wonder backs off the boards, producing just one cut and yielding production credits to Illmind, Khrysis, Mr. Porter, Nottz, Rashid Hadee, Zo!, and Hi-Tek. The end result is still an incredibly cohesive LP that relies on elevated lyricism and true-school reverence. Phonte and Big Pooh continue to hone their already-impressive mic skills, deconstructing narratives behind brand name materialism, myths of celebrity glamour, and flimsy arguments that blame hip-hop for society's ills. Lil Wayne, Carlitta Durand, Darien Brockington, Jozeemo, and Dion make guest appearances. GETBACK is another example of innovative hip-hop from one of the underground's most talented acts.

Little brother i would place this cd right after Minstrel show on my list of favorites from little brother. I love this album and agree that hip hop is definitely represented well in this album, from the time i purchased it i have not been able to turn it off! 100% Hip-Hop Another great album from Little Brother. I only gave it a 4 because this one didn't quite live up to their past classics The Listening, and The Minstrel Show. On the other hand I should give it a 5 because it is better than 99.9% of the other crappy albums rappers are putting out. To all you mainstream lovers, watch LB outshine your favorite rapper Lil' Wayne on track 3 "Breakin' My Heart". It's about the lyrics!! Real Hip Hop This is real hip hop. Shows cats that you don't have to act hard to spit that fire. Besides half the cats that talk about it dont live it. LB has been holding it down since the chittlin circuit. It's about time they get some love. Straight classic justice league. Submitted by pmbake5 (Apex, NC, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$9.49 RICK MUCHOW: A BIOGRAPHYFrom The Worship Of Music To The Music Of WorshipRick was born in San Pedro, California in 1957. At six years old, he and his mother moved to Greenwich Village, the famous community of artists, actors, and musicians located in lower New York City. It was in this environment that Rick learned to play the guitar, started singing, and discovered something called musical theater. At the age of 13, Rick moved to San Jose, California in 1970. He utilized his talents throughout the community by playing his guitar and singing, but his true love was still musical theater. Not surprisingly, God used Rick's passion for theater to open up his eyes to the Gospel. In 1975, during his senior year, he was performing in the hit musical Godspell when one of his friends explained to him the meaning behind the musical production. Rick became a Christian that year. Rick's attitude toward music was one of the first areas of his life that God began to change. Rick had always thought of music as means of getting what he wanted. In his own words, music was "a god" to him. But all of that changed when his guitar was stolen during the summer after he accepted Jesus as his Savior. Suddenly there was a great void in his life. It was a void that Rick eventually learned to fill with Christ. His guitar was returned only after he clearly saw that his first priority in life had to be God. Rick remembers: "Music was a god I worshiped, but now music is a means to worship God."After graduating from high school, Rick attended San Jose City College with a view toward majoring in music. Throughout these years he toured with a Spanish gospel singing group called Gospel Expressions. Although Rick could not speak Spanish, which meant that he could not sing any of the songs, he was blessed with ...

$9.69 The members of Sick City would probably refuse the invitation, but their 2007 album, Nightlife, may just earn them guest passes into the relatively exclusive club of Canadian mainstream rockers inhabited by the likes of Three Days Grace, Theory of a Deadman, and presided over by the world conquering Nickelback. At their best, Sick City songs like "Antoinette," "Islands," and "In the Millions" possess a similar cache of radio-friendly hooks wed to tough hard rock foundations as many of those bands' big hits; yet they also ride a melancholy undercurrent that's far more vulnerable and intriguing than those same groups' cocksure, oftentimes tiresomely puerile frat-boy machismo. A sign of greater songwriter versatility, this ...
