Additional Footage; Soundtrack English; Soundtrack French; Soundtrack Spanish Sophie Kinsella's beloved bestseller gets the silver screen treatment with this comedy that transports the novel's action from London to another world shopping capital: New York City. Isla Fisher (WEDDING CRASHERS) stars as Rebecca Bloomwood, a friendly fashionista whose star as a journalist is ascending--but not as fast as her credit card debt. Based on a pair of effervescent novels by Sophie Kinsella, CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC is a light and bubbly confection that should appeal to those who can identify with its heroine's passion. Rebecca Bloomwood (Isla Fisher, WEDDING CRASHERS) has a label-filled wardrobe that any fashionista would covet, but she also has credit card debt to match. She craves a job at the Vogue-like Alette, but a position at a financial magazine at the same publishing company may be her ticket in. Despite her painfully low credit rating, Becky starts dishing out advice on saving, while debt collector Derek Smeath (character actor Robert Stanton) is hot on her Louboutin heels. Meanwhile, she is competing for the affections of her charming boss, Luke Brandon (Hugh Dancy, THE JANE AUSTEN BOOK CLUB), with icy Alette employee Alicia Billington (Leslie Bibb, IRON MAN).
A well-heeled hybrid of SEX AND THE CITY and THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, SHOPAHOLIC features the talents of Patricia Field, costume designer for those two films. The clothes are almost on an equal footing with the actors here, and each well-chosen piece in Manhattan shop windows or worn by Bloomwood helps contribute to the film's bright mood. A lesser actress might have been lost in all the colors, but Fisher is a formidable comic presence who pulls off Becky's ditzy lines and goofy falls with equal aplomb. Those hoping for a smart discourse on the perils of credit cards and excess spending are certainly watching the wrong film, but SHOPAHOLIC may just be the fashion equivalent of food porn for dieters. Confessions Of A Shopaholic Reviews: 3 stars out of 5 -- "[With] the delightful Fisher, a goofily appealing presence who -- as shown in a hilarious dance routine that sees her flirting coquettishly with an antique fan -- also happens to be a gifted physical comedienne."-- Neil Smith, Total Film "From its talking store-window mannequins to its sneaky debauched heroine, the movie is romantic-comedy fizz, but it's fizz that bubbles like champagne." -- Grade: A--- Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly "CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC is a cleverly constructed catwalk of a romantic comedy that's a lot like the perfect outfit..."-- Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times "It glories in its silliness, and the actors are permitted the sort of goofy acting that distinguished screwball comedy....At the center of this maelstrom is a genuinely funny comedienne named Isla Fisher..."-- Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times "Fisher is alive to everything Rebecca might be feeling or wanting at a given moment while also, in the tradition of romantic-comedy greats such as Carole Lombard, Katherine Hepburn and Lucille Ball, being able to stride imperturbably through any disaster and come out on top."-- Todd McCarthy, Variety "Ms. Fisher has a few moments worthy of her abundant comedic gifts...and the cast includes Hugh Dancy, who is calm and engaging as the editor of a financial magazine..."Wall Street Journal Confessions Of A Shopaholic | List Price | $32.99 (You save $3.80) | | Studio | Buena Vista Home Entertainment | | Orig Year | 2009 | | DVD Encoding | Region 1 | | All Time Sales Rank | 93421 | | CD Universe Part number | 7605743 | | Catalog number | 10213200 | | Discs | 2 | | Release Date | Jun 23, 2009 | | Rating | PG (MPAA) | | Rating Reason | for some mild language and thematic elements | | Running Time | 105 Minutes | | Additional Info | Widescreen; Dubbed; Subtitled | | Movie Details | Color; Widescreen; Dubbed; Subtitled; 2-Disc set; Digital Copy |

| | George Strait Classic Christmas CD (2008)
Confessions Of A Shopaholic review
$10.45 Audio Mixer: Kyle Lehning. Recording information: Starstruck, Nashville, TN. Arranger: George Strait. One of the most consistent and reassuring presences on the country charts since his mid-1980s breakthrough, George Strait makes a characteristically low-key contribution to the holiday album with the excellent CLASSIC CHRISTMAS. As the title suggests, this set consists solely of traditional Christmas favorites, ranging from the hymnal "We Three Kings" and "Silent Night" to more playful tunes like "Jingle Bells" and "Up on the Housetop." The songs are performed in Strait's familiar neo-traditional country style, making CLASSIC CHRISTMAS a guaranteed winner for fans. For his third holiday album -- he releases one every decade, more or less like clockwork -- George Strait concentrates on the basics, something that's evident from the very title of Classic Christmas. There's not a new tune or obscurity among the album's ten songs, as Strait relies heavily on carols like "Silent Night," "Joy to the World," and "O Come, All Ye Faithful," adding a couple relatively newer standards like "Jingle Bells" and "Up on the Housetop" for balance. This makes Classic ...

Confessions Of A Shopaholic DVD
$13.69 Personnel: Tim Pierce (guitar); Rob Cavallo (guitars, piano); Neal Tiemann (guitars); Jamie Muhoberac (piano, organ, keyboards); Paul Bushnell (bass instrument); Dorian Crozier (drums, programming). Audio Mixer: Chris Lord-Alge. In the epic David vs. David face-off at the end of AMERICAN IDOL's seventh season, teen pop sensation David Archuleta was decisively defeated by more experienced rock performer David Cook, who issued this 2008 self-titled debut a week after Archuleta's own album. Aided by a veritable army of veteran alt-rock songwriters, including Johnny Rzeznik (Goo Goo Dolls) and Raine Maida (Our Lady Peace), Cook shines brightest with "Light On," a soaring anthem co-penned by Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave). Seven years into its run and American Idol has finally produced a winner who can hold his own and work with his own Idols. This says more about David Cook, grand champion of season seven, than it does of the franchise itself: AmIdol suffered a significant ratings slowdown during its no-drama seventh season and, despite the megastardom of Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, and Chris Daughtry, major-league stars only saw the show as a way to hock a new album. Fortunately, major-league stars hold no fascination for David Cook. As he proved time and time again on the show, Cook's greatest wish was to be an American Our Lady Peace, a hurdle ...

Confessions Of A Shopaholic movie DVD
$15.19 Like many holiday films, THIS CHRISTMAS mines the ample humor and drama of a family Christmas. Ma'Dere (Loretta Devine) is the matriarch to the large and loving Whitfield family, which consists of her three daughters--Kelli (Sharon Leal), Lisa (Regina King), and Mel (Lauren London)--and her sons--Michael (Chris Brown), Claude (Columbus Short), and Quentin (Idris Elba). They are an extremely attractive and successful bunch, but no sooner have they shared their first meal together than the hidden tensions begin to boil to the surface. Long-kept secrets come tumbling out, and the Whitfields soon engender enough drama to support several spin-off soap operas. There's interracial marriage, infidelity, gambling debts, an AWOL soldier, and repressed dreams of musical stardom, to name just a few of the issues they are forced to tackle in between stuffing the turkey and decorating the ...
