Eliseo, a crime scene photographer with journalism aspirations, commences a personal investigation about the activities of Spain's ETA terrorist organization in Mexico. During this process, he secretly follows and photographs Maria, his neighbor, a young Basque involved with the organization. However Eliseo goes from investigation to morbid obsession. When Maria is found murdered, Eliseo's obsession makes him the prime suspect. Everything he knows about Maria involves him, but to use this knowledge to demonstrate his innocence, he must first convince the police but the Spanish government's pressure is on and a man hunt for Eliseo has begun.
