The impeccable jazz vocalist Diana Krall takes on Brazil in this sultry live performance captured in Rio de Janeiro in 2008. Krall offers a bossa-nova spin on American standards such as "Where or When" and "Frim Fram Sauce," revealing exciting, sensual dimensions in the much-played tunes. LIVE IN RIO features the concert in its entirety, in addition to intimate interviews with the artist and her bandmates.
A new twist on some old standards Some jazz purists don't seem to like Diana Krall jazzin' up those old standards the way she did but I for one just love it. Submitted by haribon2000 (Palmdale, CA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo 1 of 1 found this helpful. This review is for a different format.

Weakest offering from DK There's something going on - I'm a great Krall fan, loved nearly all her previous stuff, but this concert shows her voice at its very weakest. Her notes are frequently off - doesn't seem to be able to hold notes for long. Laid back is fine but you need to hit your notes. Sorry Di, take some time off with your family. Diana Krall has had a long time fascination with bossa nova, a type of music, which perfectly suits her sophisticated yet sensual style. This culminated in her new studio album “Quiet Nights” (released by Verve in spring 2009) and in this stunning concert filmed in the home of the bossa nova, Rio de Janeiro, in November 2008. Accompanied by her band and an orchestra, Diana Krall delivers a superb set of standards in true bossa nova style but clearly bearing her unique stamp. This Blu-ray captures Diana Krall at her scintillating best.
