$10.29 The feature film debut of Hayao Miyazaki (NAUSICAÄ OF THE VALLEY OF THE WIND, PRINCESS MONONOKE), THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO depicts one adventure of the master thief Lupin and his rough-around-the-edges gunman, Jigen. Something of a cross between Batman, James Bond, and Cary Grant's character in TO CATCH A THIEF, Lupin is a suave ladies' man who is also given to feats of athletic daring, aided by a gadget filled belt that gets him out of more than a few scrapes. The plot has Lupin and Jigen traveling to the sleepy little country of Cagliostro and coming to the aid of the unwilling fiance of the diabolical Count Cagliostro. After CAGLIOSTRO, Miyazaki stopped creating "slapstick" feature films in favor of more serious fare; CAGLIOSTRO shows, however, that he is quite capable of delivering the goods in this genre. Based on the Lupin comics by the artist Monkey Punch, CAGLIOSTRO is a great heist/chase film that surpasses most similar live action fare and breezes by with more than a couple of inventive set pieces, as well as some excellent comic dialogue.

In the year 2075, travel between the earth, moon, and various space stations has become a routine part of human existence. But the increased traffic leaves behind floating pieces of debris that present a deadly hazard for traveling starships and must be cleared by a squad of hardworking debris collectors. As the collectors' newest recruit, idealistic Ai Tanabe quickly loses her enthusiasm for outer space when she joins the Half-Section unit and meets her cynical new partner, Hachimaki. This five year snapshot of his life follows Vistorino as he dons his spectacular Flyerman suit and becomes something of a superhero to the folk who take his flyers. $21.15 This sci-fi staple of Saturday-morning TV originally aired from 1974-77, subsequently achieving lasting cult status amongst fans of all ages. The show followed the adventures of Ranger Rick Marshall (Spencer Milligan) and his two children, Will (Wesley Eure) and Holly (Kathy Coleman), whose canoeing trip takes an unexpected turn when they accidentally tumble over a waterfall and enter the Land of the Lost. This is an alternate, ancient realm peopled by the peaceful, Neanderthal-esque Pakuni tribe, as well as the evil lizard creatures known as the Sleestaks, who only come out at night and are afraid of fire. The family also encounters a number of dinosaurs (both friendly and otherwise), the Abominable Snowman, and even Medusa. The puppeteering effects of creators Sid and Marty Krofft were fairly revolutionary at the time, and although special effects have vastly improved since then, the strength of its storylines and its highly endearing characters earned LAND OF THE LOST a permanent spot in the ...
