| early rarities album for mod rock band While perhaps more for completists of this band, or of 60's rock/pop, "From the Beginning" is still a solid compilation of the rest of The Small Faces recorded output from 1965-1967, for their first label, Decca. Like their debut album, this material is very good R&B/Soul influenced rock music. The surprising element, is the band wasn't happy to see this album when it was first released, as it was competition for their first singles for their new label, Immediate. While they had a falling out with Decca, this album is quite listenable, and shows their progress during their formative years. By Chris (Johnston,RI) This review is for a different format. |
