Home Music With Spirits album
$14.55 Recorded in Crowley, Louisiana; Savoy Music Center, Eunice, Louisiana; Alameda, California; and St. Mary's Chapel in Lafayette, Louisiana from May 19, 1981 to May 1, 1989.
In his introductory notes to Arhoolie Records' THE BEST OF BEAUSOLEIL, band leader Michael Doucet recalls the time when the group had to schedule recording sessions around its members' day jobs. Thankfully, for the band and for lovers of Cajun music leverywhere, those days are long past. Beausoleil is now indisputably the world's most famous Cajun band. For those unfamiliar with the genre, Cajun is a unique blend of Old World French social music and New World traditional country. Think Hank Williams singing "Jambalaya" ...
| | Johnny Winter: The Woodstock Experience CDs (1969) Limited Edition
Home Music With Spirits CD music
$15.95 Also available in a 3-pack with SECOND WINTER and CAPTURED LIVE.
Among white blues singers of the 1960s, there were some who studied the music so intently they amazed even the genre's creators with their technical mastery. A select few, however, seemed to be born oozing authenticity, sounding just as soulful as the greatest black bluesmen while forging a completely new sound. Johnny Winter belonged in the second category. A long-haired hippie albino, he astounded initially skeptical listeners with his Howlin' Wolf-like vocals and wild Johnny Guitar Watson-esque guitar stylings. THE WOODSTOCK EXPERIENCE showcases Winter's first taste of national exposure, first with his 1969 self-titled debut album, and then with his set at the Woodstock festival later the same year. The latter recording is the revelation here--a tornado of raging slide guitar and shouted vocals that sounds as if a late night Lone Star State ...

| | Marshall Tucker Band Carolina Dreams CD (1977) Bonus Track; Remastered
Home Music With Spirits CD music
$10.65 Carolina Dreams marks a retreat from the more pronounced country leanings of Long Hard Ride to the more successful country-tinged pop-rock of "Heard It In a Love Song" and "Fly Like an Eagle." They gathered more hits with this approach, and although the hits hold up well, the rest of the album doesn't live up to their quality. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Released in 1977, Carolina Dreams was a commercial breakthrough for the Marshall Tucker Band in large part due to a pair of hit singles -- "Heard It in a Love Song" and "Fly Like an Eagle." It was also the beginning of their transition from one of Southern rock's preeminent "boogie bands" to a unit that was equally versed in country, rock, blues, folk, pop, and jazz. The easy grace of Doug Gray's voice and Jerry Eubanks' reeds and woodwinds, juxtaposed with the edgy sting of Toy Caldwell's guitars, was a solid combination ...
