Frontman Lance Lammers has a crusty, thick vocal sound, but shows diversity and range throughout Based on a True Story. Underneath that jarring guitar/vocal tandem are singalong choruses, hook-laden guitar parts, and catchy beats. Check out the song "Waste of Time" for proof of that. While comparisons could be made to the Foo Fighters, Seven Storey Mountain definitely brings its own unique stylings to the scene. The band's ability to succeed where others fail is showcased via its clever consistency. The song "Unrest" shows Seven Storey Mountain's versatility; this quiet, peaceful tune does a great job of closing out the album.
