Purchase Young Fogies CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Black Sabbath Master Of Reality CD
Young Fogies
$9.99 Digitally remastered British reissue with original cover art. With Paranoid, Black Sabbath perfected the formula for their lumbering heavy metal. On its follow-up, Master of Reality, the group merely repeated the formula, setting the stage for a career of recycling the same sounds and riffs. But on Master of Reality Sabbath still were fresh and had a seemingly endless supply of crushingly heavy riffs to bludgeon their audiences into sweet, willing oblivion. If the album is a showcase for anyone, it is Tony Iommi, who keeps the album afloat with a series of slow, loud riffs, the best of which ...

| | Kathy Mattea Untasted Honey CD (1987)
Young Fogies
$6.29 Personnel: Kathy Mattea (vocals), Milton Sledge (drums, percussion), Bob Wray (bass), Ray Flacke (guitars), Tim O'Brien (acoustic guitar, mandolin, background vocals), Nick Forster (guitars), Buck White (piano), Pat Flynn (acoustic guitar), Chris Leuzinger (guitars), David Schnaufer (dulcimer), Jerry Douglas (dobro), Mike Leech (bass), Pete Wasner (piano, organ), Bruce Bouton (steel guitar), Beth Nelson Chapman (background vocals), Craig Bickhardt (background vocals, acoustic guitar), Craig Duncan (hammer dulcimer), Bobby Wood (organ, piano), Kenny Malone (drums, percussion), John Thompson (background vocals), Pat Alger (acoustic guitar), Roy Husky Jr. (bass), Dave Pomeroy (bass) and Cynthia Reynolds Wyatt (harp). Recorded at Jack's Tracks Recording Studio in Nashville. In many ways, Kathy Mattea's Untasted Honey is about as close as she's ever come to recording a bluegrass album. Of course, it's not bluegrass; it's more like Nash Vegas grass. The appearance of players and singers like Tim O'Brien, David Schnaufer, Ray Flynn, Ray Flacke, and a host of others suggests Mattea is sticking close to the roots formula. Her reliance on songs by O'Brien, Fred Koller, Don Henry, and Pat Alger also directs the mix in a certain direction. ...
| | Chet Atkins Chester & Lester CD (1977) Remastered
Young Fogies
$24.45 Personnel includes: Chet Atkins, Les Paul, Paul Yandell (guitar); Randy Goodrum (piano); Henry Strzelecki, Bob Moore (bass); Larrie London (drums). Recorded in 1976. Digitally remastered by Denny Purcell & Jonathan Russell (Georgetown Masters, Nashville, Tennessee). 2 LPs on 1 CD: CHESTER & LESTER (1976)/GUITAR MONSTERS (1978). Personnel includes: Chet Atkins, Les Paul (guitar); Randy Goodrum (piano); Henry Strzelecki, Bob Moore (bass); Larrie London (drums). Recorded in Nashville, Tennessee. Les Paul is known not only for his contributions to the development of the electric guitar, but for his wizardry in the studio as well (he was a pioneer in the use of multi-track recordings). Part of what makes CHESTER AND LESTER such a treat, however, is the straightforward, easy feel of the session, which seems leagues removed from Paul's painstakingly meticulous experiments. A duo date with Chet Atkins (who was greatly influenced and inspired by Paul), CHESTER AND LESTER showcases two guitar icons playing together as friends. There is a heavy country flavor to these proceedings, but that doesn't keep either guitarist from flinging around stylistic references to jazz and other genres. Atkins' laid-back fingerpicking style is the perfect counterpoint to Paul's fretboard flurries. The sheer mythic weight created by these two innovators playing side by side is almost enough in itself to recommend the album, but--not surprisingly--the music is wonderful too. Chester & Lester is a beautiful ...
