A wonderfully muscular collection from fiddler Joe MacLean, who combines his raw-toned (and sometimes raw-boned) string work with boxy, simple piano support from Lila Hashem and rhythm support from Peter Dominic, the latter making interesting use of a small drumkit to fit in with the Celtic origins of the music performed by MacLean. This album has its own particular tale of fortune, having been recorded in 1977, but rejected at the time by the notoriously shy MacLean for unspecified reasons.
