LIVE THE LIFE was nominated for a 1999 Grammy for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album.
On his eleventh album, Christian artist Michael W. Smith proves once again his ability to provide pop appeal while maintaining his integrity, as well as continuing his themes of thankfulness and deep religious faith. LIVE THE LIFE varies from Smith's previous albums in that he plays guitar rather than piano, lending an edgier, more assertive tone to the music. Highlights include the anthemic title track; the quirky "Love Me Good," and the touching "Hello, Goodbye," which was written for friends of Smith's whose new baby died. Smith attributes the themes of LIVE THE LIFE, as well as its title, to a quote by St. Francis of Assisi: "Preach the gospel to all the world and if necessary, use words."

Probably one of his best yet! I put this cd in my stereo as soon as I bought it and I didn't take it out for a week. I couldn't listen to it enough. My favorite songs were "Missing Person", "Love me Good", and "Hello, Goodbye", which is a very touching song. MWS is my favorite singer and I can't wait for his next album!!!!! Contemporary Radio is Leaving out Some of the Good Stuff! The only songs I hear on the radio from this album that I like are "Let me Show You the Way" & "Missing Person" - but the really good stuff is on the album. "I Believe in You Now" is great, and so is the song "Don't Give Up". "A Matter of Time" & "In My Arms Again" are awesome Christian love songs, "A Song For Rich" is a peaceful tribute to Rich Mullins and "Hello Good-Bye" is a moving song. This album is pretty good - although most of Michael W. Smith's are... Submitted by burgundystar (Concord, NC) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Live The Life album
$8.75 Ten years after he delivered the lovely Christmas, Michael W. Smith offered another holiday record with Christmastime. It's a surprisingly varied record, ranging from newer songs performed with adult contemporary arrangements, and an instrumental duet with Phil Keaggy on "O Christmas Tree" to traditional medleys supported by the American Boy Choir and a full orchestra, plus his daughter Anna singing "Away in a Manger." The album benefits from the diversity, since holiday records often sound a bit too homogenous. Smith's, however, is teeming with life and love -- a perfect soundtrack for a joyous Christmastime. ~ Rodney ...

| | Michael W Smith I'll Lead You Home CD (1995)
Live The Life album
$10.15 "Breakdown" contains a sample of the voice of Martin Luther King, Jr.
I'LL LEAD YOU HOME won a 1996 Grammy Award for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album.
Michael W. Smith is a man of unshaken faith, of that there's little doubt. And his music-making skills are equally strong, as he proves again on this latest effort. I'LL LEAD YOU HOME is full of the kind of songs Smith has made his trademark: steady, mid-tempo rock, with a clear, honest Christian message. And this time around, Smith has added a bit of street-wise flavor, with a more percussive, syncopated sound. The record's first track, "Cry For Love," reflects this new rhythmic feel, and Smith seems to be reaching out for a new segment of the listening audience with each funky (albeit mildly so) beat.
This spiritual songster has always been able to pen a tune, ...

| | Karen Dalton In My Own Time CDs (1971) Remastered
Live The Life songs
$14.45 Among the legendary singer-songwriters of the 1960s Greenwich Village folk scene, the late Karen Dalton was the interpreter and song-stylist of choice (in fact, Dylan himself rated Dalton as his favorite of the bunch). While she never achieved the kind of fame that her cohorts did, her influence was widely felt. One can hear her throaty, slow-burning take on country-blues singing in the voices of Lucinda Williams and other female alt-country singers. This 1971 release was only one of two proper albums she made in her lifetime, and the 2006 reissue includes all the original tracks, remastered, with a 32-page booklet and liner notes by Lenny Kaye (with input from other famous fans).
The late Karen Dalton has been the muse for countless folk rock geniuses, from Bob Dylan to Devendra Banhart, from Lucinda Williams to Joanna Newsom. Legendary singer Lacy J. Dalton actually adopted her hero’s surname as her own when she started her career in country music. Karen Dalton had that affect on people - her timeless, aching, blues-soaked, Native American spirit inspired both Dylan & The Band’s 'Katie’s Been Gone' (on The Basement Tapes) and Nick Cave’s 'When I First Came To Town' (from Henry’s Dream). Recorded over a six month period in 1970/71 at Bearsville, In My Own Time was Dalton’s only fully planned and realized studio album. The material was carefully selected and crafted for her by producer/musician Harvey Brooks, the Renaissance man of rock-jazz who ...
