BDP's 1990 outing came out fresh on the heels of KRS-One's superstar collaboration, the successful STOP THE VIOLENCE--SELF-DESTRUCTION. He was also beginning the Human Education Against Lies campaign, which was to become the cornerstone of hip-hop politics. With heavy emphasis on ideology, KRS-One offered the second of his two intensely political albums, the other being THE BLUEPRINT OF HIP-HOP.
"Blackman in Effect" brings the raw honesty of KRS-One spilled over a booming soundscape provided by the MC and D-Nice. Other standouts include "Ya Know the Rules," "Breath Control II," and "Ya Strugglin," the last of which sports an appearance by career activist Kwame Toure. "7 Dee Jays" features an early and rugged Heather B verse.
Additional personnel includes: Kwame Touri, Special "K".
Recorded at Power Play Studio, Long Island City, New York and Battery Studios, New York, New York.
Producers: KRS-One, Pal Joey, Sidney Mills & The Decadent Dub Team.
Engineers: D-Square, Mike Nuceedar, Rebekeh Foster.
Boogie Down Productions: KRS-One (vocals); D-Nice, DJ Kenny Parker.
Spin (10/90) - "..on his fourth album, KRS-ONE has staked out a position as a rapper of honesty, compassion, and toughness...a fuller mix and a catchy chorus.." Just like the title...it's a joint where 'education' and 'entertainment' meet. i'm sure it inspired most of the THRU HEADZ in hiphop 2day. it's a classic!

Blastmaster! The best BDP album ever! The second best is the follow up "Sex and Violence." As far as thought provoking lyrical content is concerned, this has got to be voted one of the best hip hop albums of all time. A definite classic in the same area of Public Emeny's "It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back." Edutainment is educational and entertaining. A must have for any hip hopper. This is something you can sit down with your Kids and listen to. Hear it first, then, prove to them that you were always cool by sprinkling them with an Old School classic. $17.75 While Crazy Horse have often been praised as one of America's great rock & roll bands, that's usually when they've been working in collaboration with fan, friend, and frequent patron Neil Young. On their own, Crazy Horse have recorded a handful of worthwhile albums, but they've never connected with audiences the same way they have when working with Young. Of course, it doesn't help that the band has never had a consistent frontman, guitarist, or songwriter of their own, with bassist Billy Talbot and drummer Ralph Molina the only musicians to play on every Crazy Horse album. (Original guitarist Danny Whitten died of a drug overdose in 1972, while Frank "Poncho" Sampedro has often drifted out of the group, usually to work with Young.) Crazy Horse's career has followed a strange and crooked path, but they've also made some fine music along the way, and Gone Dead Train is a compilation which attempts to make sense of the band's checkered recording history outside of their work with Neil Young (though his unmistakable guitar tone is apparent ...
