THE COMPLETE STONE ROSES compiles singles, B-sides and album tracks from 1987-1990. The Stone Roses: Ian Brown (vocals); John Squire (guitar); Gary Mounfield (bass); Reni (drums). Producers: Martin Hannett, Peter Hook, John Leckie, Paul Schroeder, The Garage Flowers. Engineers: Chris Nagle, John Hurst. Includes liner note by John Harris. Personnel: Ian Brown (vocals); John Squire (guitar). Liner Note Author: John Harris . Recording information: Strawberry Studios. The Complete Stone Roses concentrates on the band's first album, compiling the A- and B-sides of the group's hits from "Elephant Stone" to "One Love." In addition to the familiar material, the disc includes rare, early singles like "So Young" and "Sally Cinnamon" for the first time on compact disc, giving their classic material some context. There's a fair amount of classic pop here, and the rarities are necessary for dedicated fans. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine The title's a bit of a misnomer. The loud guitars of "So Young" are clearly the work of a hesitant band, while "Sally Cinnamon" is the first indication of John Squire's gift for ringing, melodic guitar hooks. However, their inclusion -- as well as the appearance of the B-sides, which lack the consistent brilliance of "I Wanna Be Adored," "She Bangs the Drums," "Elephant Stone," "Waterfall," etc. -- make The Complete Stone Roses a flawed introduction to the band. Nevertheless, there's a fair amount of classic pop here, and the rarities are necessary for dedicated fans. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine The title of THE COMPLETE STONE ROSES is not entirely accurate. The disc is one of the settlements resulting from the longstanding legal battles between the Manchester band and its former label, Silvertone Records. THE COMPLETE collects the singles from the Roses' classic first album, 1989's THE STONE ROSES, along with such excellent, pre-and-post-album singles as "Made of Stone" and the hypnotic nine-minute groove anthem "Fools Gold" and a handful of early recordings made in the mid-'80s with the late Martin Hannett. The latter are especially intriguing, making clear the previously hidden influence earlier Hannett-produced Manchester bands like New Order and A Certain Ratio had on the Stone Roses' more '60s-influenced and guitar-oriented sound. THE COMPLETE is an interesting compilation for fans and newcomers alike.Q (7/95, p.145) - 5 Stars - Indispensable - "...Pop proliferates, but the law of averages suggests it will still have to throw up vast amounts more before this wonderful music is bettered." Complete Stone Roses Music Complete Stone Roses Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Another 5 Star album I'm not one for handing out 5 stars willy nilly, however I am keeping my reviews for the deserving{plus I didn't want to upset the apple cart}. "I wanna be adored" and "Fool's gold" are the two luckiest song titles to be named as I could've name any. A must for lovers of "brit-pop" music... & if not by it any way! ... i wanna i wanna i wanna Submitted by James (Sydney,NSW,Aust) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
For Once, You CAN Believe the Hype Simultaneously retro and contemporary, the Stone Roses should completely thrill anyone who loves the beauty and power of rock n roll. Buy this AND the debut album, then decide if you need the still-good-but-not-great Second Coming. Litmus test: if you can listen to "I Am the Resurrection," "I Wanna Be Adored," and "She Bangs the Drums," and not be transported into absolute musical bliss, then just go away - you don't deserve to listen to rock n roll at all! Every CD collection should have this album The opening two songs of this album may put a lot of people off. But if you're a real Roses fan, you will realise that what comes after these two tracks is a classic collection of songs by THE band of the early 90's, who influence Indie music in Britain, bringing it to the fore front. Oasis have a lot to thank them for, as well as many other bands. This is a classic album with Brilliant tracks such as 'Fool's Gold' and 'I am the Resurection'. Absolute class!! Buy it now.

Complete Stone Roses
$5.55 There's no denying that Second Coming is a bit of a letdown. None of the songs are quite as strong as the best on their debut, but there is plenty of good music on the band's much-delayed second record. The Stone Roses create a dense tapestry of interweaving guitars and pulsing bass grooves. Ian Brown growls a little more than before, but he isn't the center of the music; John Squire's endlessly colorful riffs are. It's clear that Squire has been listening to a bit of hard rock, particularly Led Zeppelin. While the songs occasionally take a back seat to the grooves, several tracks -- "Ten Storey Love Song," ...

Complete Stone Roses
$14.29 Import reissue of 1976 album includes one bonus track, 'Baby Please Don't Go'. Repertoire.
AIRBORNE, the 1976 album from Curved Air, features 10 tracks such as "Juno" and "Dazed." Personnel: Sonja Kristina (vocals); Mick Jacques (guitar); Darryl Way (violin, keyboards); Jack Emblow (accordion); Alan Skidmore (saxophone); Henry Lowther (trumpet); Robin Lumley (piano); Bob Sargeant (organ); Tony Reeves (keyboards); Frank Ricotti (congas). Liner Note Author: Mark Brennan . Recording information: Trident Studios, London, England (1976). Photographer: Steve Garforth. The final Curved Air album before the band's late-1976 split is a somewhat under-rated effort, an album that may not be able to hold a candle to the superlative triumphs of their first three records, but still a strong summation of all that made the group so important in the first place. With founders Sonja Kristina and Darryl Way flanked by former Greenslade bassist Tony Reeves, future Police drummer Stewart Copeland, and guitarist Mick Jacques, ...

Recording information: Los Angeles, CA (1999); Toronto, Ontario, Canada (1999); Wishfire Studios (1999). To say there's a slight bit of discographical confusion over this release is to understate. The Projekt label had released three separate end-of-year holiday compilations through the late '90s and into the next decade plus some singles in 2004, all featuring both acts on the label itself as well as various associated performers distributed by the label. The original A Dark Noel compilation, released ...
