Packed with songs produced by such talents as ALLSTAR ("Table For Two"), She'kspere ("Get Crunk Tonight") and Teddy Riley ("Stutter"), MY NAME IS JOE showcases Joe's remarkable dynamic range and delivery. This is to Joe... I just wanna say, that yes, I do love your album, but check this out. I think one of the best parts is the intro, song #1 in the album "My name is Joe"...the problem is that that intro is so short and i really love it so much...I wish you'd extend that song and make a longer version of it...what do you say? Hope you get this, or anybody who knows him, so he can make that song longer, then I don't have to press "repeat song"...
Blessings,
Graciella

Purchase My Name Is Joe CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | JOE All That I Am CD (1997)
My Name Is Joe album
$8.99 On ALL THAT I AM, Joe offers 12 tracks of slow, smooth R&B stylings, with diverse arrangements and creative performance, all centered around the breathy, earnest voice of Joe Thomas. In addition to his multi-tracked vocal arrangements, Joe also makes substantial keyboard, programming, and production contributions.
Lyrically, the album ranges from the swaggering bravado of "The Love Scene" to the emotional vulnerability of "No One Else Comes Close." Not wanting to fall back on R&B cliches, Joe opts for a fresher metaphor--"I hear he' s got you in lockdown, but I got the master key" ["All The Things (Your Man Won't Do)"]. ALL THAT I AM features some impressive production tricks including the reverse loop intro to "U Shoulda Told Me (U had A Man)," the flanged vocal effects of "Don't Wanna Be A Player" ...

| | Toni Braxton Heat CD (2000)
My Name Is Joe music CDs
$7.79 "He Wasn't Man Enough" won the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. The song was also nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best R&B Song. THE HEAT was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best R&B Album.
While THE HEAT has no shortage of attention-grabbing hooks, R&B songbird Toni Braxton doesn't go for any of the grand gestures that her stardom would allow. Instead, she plays it agreeably cool, downplaying the vocal pyrotechnics that are the downfall of so many lesser R&B singers. Even Dr. Dre's guest appearance on "Just Be a Man About It" nods to the sensual recitatives and bedside manners of '70s love men like Barry White.
The rapid-fire lyrics on "Maybe" are definitely informed by hip-hop vocal rhythms, but the track nevertheless retains a distinctly low-key feel. Meanwhile, ...

My Name Is Joe album
$6.89 "Bills, Bills, Bills" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal and for Best R&B Song.
"Say My Name" won the 2001 Grammy Award in the categories of Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal and Best R&B Song. The song was also nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award in the categories of Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year.
With their second album, Writing's on the Wall, Destiny's Child still suffers from slightly uneven songwriting, but it's nevertheless an assured step forward for the girl group. Not only are they maturing as vocalists, ...

| | Vivian Stanshall Sir Henry At Ndidi's Kraal CD (1984)
My Name Is Joe music CDs
$13.69 Former Bonzo Dog leader Stanshall continued his Sir Henry "epic" with Sir Henry at Ndidi's Kraal, a record that probably raised hackles on its release in 1983, and maybe even more so now, with its portrayal of the white Englishmen and his superior attitude toward the black South Africans working for him -- at one point, he even paints letters of the alphabet on them (in white gloss) because he can't pronounce their names. ...
