The multi-talented Buddy Miller is a seasoned singer-songwriter, a subtly inventive guitar hero and a studio ace. In his work with Emmylou Harris, Jim Lauderdale and his wife Julie Miller, all of whom appear here, he's proven himself to be a jack of all trades. His second solo album bears this out. POISON LOVE is full of strong original material as well as a couple of inspired cover tunes. Throughout the album, Miller is consistently convincing as a purveyor of New Country who is too authentic to be self-conscious.
In his approaches to songwriting and production, Miller keeps things simple but effective, communicating strong, honest emotions with just the right amount of explication. He exerts his authority as a vocalist on the soul classic "That's How Strong My Love Is" and uses the title track to make his mark as one of the finest songwriters in neo-trad country.

Entertainment Weekly (8/22-8/29/97, p.135) - "As on his '95 debut, Miler's second album walks the line between scratch-and-grin hillbilly and poetic and progressive country rock. With his wife, Julie, he reprises the sound of such golden duet teams as Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris....Raw, real and resonant." - Rating: B+ Poison Love Music | List Price | $13.97 (You save $2.58) | | Category | Rock/Pop Albums, Country CDs, Alternative, Progressive, Country Rock | | Label | Hightone | | Orig Year | 1997 | | All Time Sales Rank | 10845 | | CD Universe Part number | 1005836 | | Catalog number | 8084 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Aug 19, 1997 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Producer | Buddy Miller | | Engineer | Buddy Miller | | Recording Time | 43 minutes | | Personnel | Buddy Miller - guitar, electric guitar Byron House - bass Steve Fishell Gurf Morlix Phil Madeira - organ Donald Lindley Darryl Johnson Rev. Poison Love album
$11.39 A talented guitarist/singer/songwriter and producer, Buddy Miller merges a love for classic country, with a rock & roll sense of urgency and do-it-yourself ethic. Witness the fact that a good share of this record was recorded in Miller's living room. The results, however, are memorable -- ...
| | Julie Miller Blue Pony CD (1997)
Poison Love CD music
$11.39 BLUE PONY, Miller's debut record on Hightone (her previous effort was on a small, Christian-oriented label) places her as a kind of quirky alternative-Americana artist. Think of a rootsy Victoria Williams, whose voice Miller often brings to mind. As if to purposely move past the "country" label, BLUE PONY starts off strong with a rocker, "A Kiss On the Lips," with its understated energy and Hammond B-3 backing. The next song "Take Me Back," is a high lonesome duet with Julie's husband ...

CAR WHEELS ON A GRAVEL ROAD won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album. "Can't Let Go" was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.
Williams's fans waited a long six years for this album, as Lucinda went through music business hassles and a revolving door of producers. The reward for their patience is an album full of rootsy, heartfelt observations that alternately ...

| | Alison Krauss Hundred Miles Or More: A Collection CD (2007)
Poison Love songs
$14.05 Although the subtitle suggests that A HUNDRED MILES OR MORE is just a standard greatest hits set, this anthology is actually something far more useful. The career-spanning 16-track set gathers nearly all of Alison Krauss's soundtrack appearances, guest shots on other folks' albums, tribute songs, and a handful of other rarities. By gathering all this material in one place, it's a hugely useful album for fans, but on its own musical merits, A HUNDRED MILES OR MORE contains some of Alison Krauss's best work. Highlights include "Down to the River to Pray," her ...
