AMERICAN MUSIC is a reissue of the Blasters rare debut LP, originally released in a limited vinyl pressing in 1980 and unavailable since. It includes 6 previously unreleased tracks from the same sessions.
Includes liner notes by Rockin' Ronny Weiser, Dave Alvin and Chris Morris.
The Blasters were at the vanguard of the 1980's root-rock revival, erupting out of Southern California with a love of rockabilly, country, R&B and Chicago blues that they distilled into a distinctive sound given life by the voice and songwriting of brothers Phil and Dave Alvin respectively. Eventually, the band evolved from a tradition-based neo-rockabilly unit into a Creedence for the '80s, with timeless tunes that addressed socio-political issues without sacrificing an ounce of fire. Their very first recording, AMERICAN MUSIC was released in a limited pressing on a tiny CA indie in 1980, and was a rare commodity until this long-awaited reissue.
There's a raw, live-in-the-studio feel to the cuts here, which include cover tunes like "Wish You Would" and "Real Rock Drive," and Alvin originals that would appear in new versions on the band's Slash debut ("Marie Marie," "American Music"). There's also a plethora of previously unreleased tunes that will make collectors' mouths water. AMERICAN MUSIC marks the important first step of one of the last great American rock & roll bands.

American Music songs
$8.99 It's not too surprising that Ontario, Canada band Finger Eleven would wind up on Wind-Up Records. With their driving guitars and brooding vocals, they definitely seem like kin with labelmates Creed, Boy Sets Fire, Drowning Pool, 12 Stones, et al. What is fairly surprising is that with their remarkable knack for hooks, their first two albums, THE GREYEST OF BLUE ...

Long before they became The Band, these four Canadians and one southern rebel rocked the rooftops off Canada as The Hawks, Ronnie Hawkins's fierce back-up band. Their non-stop performing took them through nearly every bar in the region, and the group developed into a tightly wound rock unit. It is therefore interesting that, as The Band, the group was known more for its reluctance in the live arena than for its live prowess. This was in part due to leader Robbie Robertson's stage jitters, which seemed to worsen as The Band's status swelled. ROCK OF AGES provides a telling account of what glorious heights ...
| | Candice Ivory Path: Undefined CD (2003)
American Music CD music
$16.39 Born just outside of Memphis, Tennessee, vocalist and composer Candice Ivory followed in the footsteps of countless musical legends by getting her start singing on Beale Street. By the time she had graduated from high school, Ivory had become a late-night icon on the historic street performing with the jam-band CYC. It was Ivory's passion and dedication for not just blues, funk and rock but also jazz that secured her spot in Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead Program in 2000 and ultimately prompted her to move to New York City to further her career in 2001. The relationships Ivory formed in the Big Apple led to the release of her debut album path - undefined in ...

| | Stan Getz Their Greatest Hits CD (2007)
American Music songs
$8.15 During the 1960's, in large part because of his collaborations with Brazilian musician and songwriter Antonio Carlos Jobim, Stan Getz became one of jazz's top sellers and helped to unleash a craze for bossa nova in North America. THEIR GREATEST HITS brings together all the best collaborations between Jobim and Getz, including the famous "Girl From Impanema" (featuring Astrud Gilberto on vocals), "Desafinado," and "Insensatez." Occasionally, Jobim's reedy voice appears, as do the lilting guitars of Charlie Byrd and Joao Gilberto, but the show belongs to Jobim's songwriting and Getz's cool, reflective saxophone. THEIR GREATEST HITS is classic material.
