| | Fall Sinister Waltz CD Fall Discography of CDs
SINISTER WALTZ is a compilation of various outtakes, B-sides, remixes and live tracks by The Fall.
Compiling demos from the early-'90s albums SHIFT-WORK and EXTRICATE, along with a handful of live tracks and remixes from the same era, THE SINISTER WALTZ is the first in a series of retrospective Fall CDs released in 1996. OSWALD DEFENCE LAWYER and FIEND WITH A VIOLIN followed, and the three albums were also released as a box set titled THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FALL. A live cover of the Electric Light Orchestra's "Birthday" is THE SINISTER WALTZ's highlight, along with an alternative take on SHIFT-WORK's catchy "Edinburgh Man." While far from useless, this CD is definitely intended for and of greatest value to diehard Fall fans.
contains different musical arrangements & slight lyrical variations of tracks which eventually made it onto LP's "Extricate" & "Shiftwork" + Jeff Lynne penned track w. vocalist Lucy Rimmer
The Fall includes: Mark E. Smith (vocals).
Personnel: Lucy Rimmer, Brix Smith (vocals).NME (Magazine) (2/3/96, p.44) - 7 (out of 10) - "...The early '90s were both Brix-less and disturbingly tuneful times for The Fall so...outtakes from that period...are noticeably without claws....aural sabotage is never far away....this refried schizophrenia is utterly bonkers and thus for the Fall trainspotter zone..." $15.69 Finally unleashed for the length of a full album, Murphy's muse still offers up plenty of John-Foxx-will-rise-again retro synth sounds, but he expands his palette as well. The irresistibly catchy "Daft Punk Is Playing at My House" is a funky, riff-driven party-starter that compares favorably to vintage Beck, and "On Repeat" indicates a fascination with the lyrical cadences of the Fall's Mark E. Smith. Moving further back in time to ...

Sinister Waltz music CDs
$13.25 The Document label, whose mission is to reissue every prewar blues recording not readily available elsewhere, moves into the swing era and jazz on this CD. All of the music is quite obscure with many of the groups having unknown personnel, but there are some excellent moments along the way. Lovin' Sam Theard was a pleasant jive singer who recorded during 1929-1934 and with pianist-singer Cow Cow Davenport. His 11 selections on this CD, which include two previously unreleased performances, date from 1937-1940 and find him joined by small swing groups and, on his trademark song "Spo-De-O-Dee," the quartet of Tiny Parham, a 1920s pianist who had recently switched to organ. Four selections from the vocal duo of Nora & Delle (Nora is Nora Lee King while Delle is unknown) are just OK examples of routine swing from 1941. However the completely forgotten Jean Brady is excellent on her two numbers, while Jewel Paige, who is featured on three selections, is a major find. She shows on "Give It Up," "I'm Left with a Broken Heart," and especially "I Ain't Gonna Give Nobody None of This Jelly Roll" that she could have been a contender. Paige is backed by a first-rate group that includes altoist Don Stovall and pianist Hank Duncan. The final group, Black Cats and the Kitten, has three guitars (one electric), ...

One of the most important metal bands of the 1980s, Mercyful Fate took the gloom and doom of Black Sabbath, infused it with the faster tempos of Judas Priest, and added the complexity of prog rock. Meshing the sinister riffs and vibrant guitar harmonies of Michael Denner and Hank Shermann with the sterling rhythm section of bassist Timi Hansen and drummer Kim Ruzz, then topping it all off with the ghostly baritone and infamous falsetto of King Diamond, Denmark's renowned Satanic quintet took dark metal to a whole new level. Five-minute gems like "Evil" and "At The Sound Of The Demon Bell" feature enough ideas for ...

Sinister Waltz CD music
$11.39 Rose Francois was born November eighteenth in Haiti. She grew up as the daughter of a minister in a family of eleven. The introduction of music came very early in life through the small-town church where her father ministered. Whether it was singing in a wedding, a church program, a special community event, or just within her large family, Rose became a hometown favorite by the time she was just seven years old. Growing up in a musical family made music a third language for Rose, with her first ...
| | Collectable King Crimson, Vol. 2 CDs (2007) (Import)
Sinister Waltz music CDs
$15.39 Adding to the already dizzying array of King Crimson live material is this second volume of the Collectable King Crimson, which hosts two gigs from 1981 in a double-disc set. The two discs vary in sound quality, but in terms of performance they are both fiery, exuberant and frequently stunning. Disc one has been retrieved from a cassette bootleg recording and has been restored as well as possible. The back cover notes that the quality is "fair." It sounds like an audience recording, but that said, this is the actual recording of this version of King Crimson's -- Belew, Fripp, Bruford and Levin -- first gig! In fact, it's so early, they were called Discipline at the time. Done in a tiny club where one had to walk across the bandstand to get to the bathroom, the performance is just raucous and furious, intensely focused and wily at the same time. "Discipline," "Thela Hun Ginjeet" and "Red," played for the first time since the last Crimson tour in the mid-'70s, finds the bass sound simply off the map, a big fat boom just careening around and forcing the guitars to go at it harder. Bruford's playing is all over the place as the archetypal center. Fripp and Belew actually challenge ...
