Live at the Fujitsu-Festival 1992 'Sing, Sing, Sing' album for sale Product Description
Live at the Fujitsu-Festival 1992 'Sing, Sing, Sing' album for sale by Mel Torme was released Mar 30, 1993 on the Concord Jazz label. Although 14 minutes of this CD is a specific "Tribute to Benny Goodman," the entire release is actually at least an indirect homage to the King of Swing. Mel Tormé and his trio (pianist John Colianni, bassist John Leitham, and drummer Donny Osborne) are joined by clarinetist Ken Peplowski and vibraphonist Peter Appleyard (who are very reminiscent of Goodman and Lionel Hampton), and the emphasis is on swing-era standards. Live at the Fujitsu-Festival 1992 'Sing, Sing, Sing' CD music contains a single disc with 11 songs. ...See Full Description

Duke Ellington Live at the Greek 9/23/66 CD (1994)
Live at the Fujitsu-Festival 1992 'Sing, Sing, Sing' CD music Jazz giants Ellington and Fitzgerald's first recorded collaboration was in 1957 on Ella's DUKE ELLINGTON SONG BOOK project. Nine years later, this Los Angeles concert would show that not only were both artists still in the pink, but that they could still make magic together. The Ellington orchestra opened the show, and from latter-day Ellington band star Paul Gonsalves' fiery tenor to work to old-timer Cat Anderson's upper register mastery on his feature "Prowling Cat," the band is in fine form here.
Ella joins the band for a solid, jumping version of "Sweet Georgia Brown" before introducing her own trio to the audience. By the time Ellington and company join in with Ella for the set-closing "Things Ain't What They Used To Be," the listener has been given a lesson in the blessed union of swinging rhythm and sophisticated harmony, the very marriage that made both of these artists household names in the jazz world.
Here are three performace segments recorded at The Greek with Duke Ellington and his band, Ella Fitzgerald and her trio (with pianist Jimmy Jones, bassist Jim Hughart and drummer Ed Thigpen), plus Ella with Duke's band. It's over 80 minutes of never befo

Bix Beiderbecke With Jean Goldkette's Orchestra 1924-1927 CD (2003)
Live at the Fujitsu-Festival 1992 'Sing, Sing, Sing' album for sale It's been said that Bix Beiderbecke was unusually happy during his involvement with the Jean Goldkette Orchestra during 1926 and 1927 when the group operated under the direction of C melody saxophonist Frankie Trumbauer. If you want to hear exactly how and why Bix felt so comfortable in that particular band, listen to the instrumental "My Pretty Girl" with the volume cranked up, then listen to it once again. This was a fantastically great dance band that toured around making people happy with real jazz. Unfortunately, whenever they went to make records they had to contend with Victor A&R director Edward T. King, who imposed lukewarm material and puerile vocalists upon them. The first time Bix tried to record with Goldkette (in Detroit on November 24, 1924), he only blew his horn on "I Didn't Know." Bix and the band waxed five takes, which were all rejected by King. About 40 years after it was recorded, a presentable platter was unearthed and has been passed around ever since as the lone example of the way this unit sounded with Bix in the mix back in 1924. In 2003 Challenge Records brought out a fabulous edition combining "I Didn't Know" and 14 sides from 1926-1927 with ten alternate takes, which are presented on the home stretch of the disc rather than doubled up in sequence. This enables the listener to groove through the main body of work and revisit some of the tunes in a progression that could work well as an endless loop for those who are possessed by the desire to join Beiderbecke in the eternal present moment of his days with Goldkette's orchestra. ~ arwulf arwulf

Fruit Live at the Basement: Fruit CD (2004)
Live at the Fujitsu-Festival 1992 'Sing, Sing, Sing' album for sale LIVE AT THE BASEMENT finds Aussie rockers Fruit recorded live in concert in 2004. Among the 11 tracks are "Dreaming" and "Skin" as well as several new songs.
Exquisite Harmonies, High Energy
Australian sensation, FRUIT are on their way to becoming one of the hottest new music exports from Down Under. With 3 frontline women - Susie Keynes, Sam Lohs and Mel Watson, 2 wielding electric and acoustic guitars and the other commanding an arsenal of horns. Each of them sings, writes and locks seamlessly to the other. It's a vocal blend reminiscent of the great harmonisers of our time.
Add to this collaboration the snap lock brotherly groove of the rhythm section: Yanya Boston's gutsy, rhythmic passion on drums, Brian Ruiz's groove-laden bass and two more velvet voices.
That is Fruit. Hard to pin down- perhaps best described as acoustic pop, Fruit's eclectic set also touches funk, blues, rock and groove.
Of outrageous appeal however are the strength of the vocals and the dramatic use of harmonies.
Operating independently since 1995, this music and performance powerhouse has grown from an instantly popular local outfit based in Adelaide, Australia, to an internationally renowned and sort after festival attraction.
From the WOMAD circuit to the Edinburgh Fringe - the U.S. and Canadian Festivals to the outback of home - five years of solid international touring has defined the depth and reach of this band.
Be it heart-lifting ballads, gut wrenching blues, scorching torch or rocky liberation, FRUIT delivers something for everyone, if you like music that fires your imagination, that is...

Ross Lippencott Find My Way to You CD (2005)
Live at the Fujitsu-Festival 1992 'Sing, Sing, Sing' CD music I've never written a biography before, so the task of writing a biography of someone I know so well is a daunting one. I was at the hospital holding him in my tiny arms when he was born and I taught him his first song on the guitar - so I guess I'll just have to skip a few of the details.
The life of Ross Kendall Lippencott began in gorgeous, clean Secaucus, New Jersey. As I recall (though I was only two at the time), he popped out singing and all the babes in the hospital nursery flocked to him screaming. A rather normal, uneventful childhood in suburbia ensued. But his life took an unexpected turn when, at age twelve, he picked up Dad's guitar and didn't put it down until he got his own. Dad had always played us bedtime songs instead of reading us bedtime stories, and when I started playing, Ross, naturally, grew determined to play better.
He was soon teaching himself songs and began writing his own original masterpieces at fifteen and has been scribbling song after song ever since. When I, the smart and studious one, noticed that he had replaced his homework time almost entirely with strumming and guitar riffs, I asked him about it. His response was abnormally concise (as he usually talks your ear off): "it's a no-brainer." OBVIOUSLY, homework is not nearly as important.
So what about the music? He and I agreed that his style is hard to put a label on. "It's not really rock 'n roll yet - right now it's just me and my guitar," he said. Ross may only be in the early stages of rock 'n roll, but his influences are found at the very heart of the genre: The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and Neil Young - and that's only the beginning of his long list of rock 'n roll Greats. To Ross, exact labeling of his music is of minimal importance; "I want people to enjoy my music as much as I do."
