Concord Duo Series Vol. 10 album
$38.09 DREAMS is a 4-CD box set compiling in chronological order tracks by the Allman Brothers Band, as well as tracks by bands featuring one or more member of the Allman Brothers Band and solo performances by Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts.
Recorded between 1966 & 1988. Includes a 32-page illustrated booklet and liner notes by John Swenson.
Like nearly all box sets, DREAMS has plenty to recommend it-and a few nagging drawbacks. The set's chief shortcoming is its two conflicting goals: providing an overview of the Allmans' history, ...
| | Poco Forgotten Trail (1969-74) CDs (1990)
Concord Duo Series Vol. 10 CD music
$15.29 This compilation contains 38 songs, including many new remixes from original master tapes, 6 previously unreleased songs, alternate versions of 3 others, and a comprehensive 36 page booklet, with historic liner notes and photos.
This excellent two-disc collection captures Poco's finest moments from the days when they were laying down the template for all the country-rock music that was to follow. It's hard to remember, but when the Eagles first hit the scene, they were thought by many to be a Poco-wannabe band. Listen to this set and you'll hear why. The Forgotten Trail (1969-1974) culls tracks from Poco's first eight albums, as well as unreleased cuts and singles. From the classic anthem "Pickin' Up the Pieces," which kicks things off, through "You Better Think ...

| | Miles Davis In Person At The Blackhawk: Complete CDs (2003) Remastered; Box Set
Concord Duo Series Vol. 10 songs
$31.45 "Walkin'" is taken at the kind of jaunty tempo that distinguished the Wynton Kelly-Paul Chambers-Jimmy Cobb rhythm axis. Paul Chambers' buoyant, effortless beat, his sure sense of harmony and swing, and his resounding brand of melodic bass (dig his little bowed break at the conclusion of "Walkin'") are the glue which hold these performances together. On "Walkin'" he and Jimmy Cobb lock up the groove as if swinging were the same as breathing, allowing Kelly to engage the trumpeter in a continual dialogue, feinting counterpoint and feeding him his favorite chords, then dropping away to allow Miles to stroll for a taste.
Kelly's joy is infectious on the band's old ...
| | Doors Legacy: The Absolute Best CDs (1967)

Released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of the first Doors album, THE VERY BEST OF THE DOORS supercedes all former Doors compilations. At two discs and 34 tracks, this is quite comprehensive for a band whose key lineup released only half a dozen albums. In addition to all the ...

| | Say It Live And Loud - James Brown Live In Dallas 8/26/68 CD (1998)
Concord Duo Series Vol. 10 music CDs
$6.85 Recorded live at the Dallas Memorial Auditorium, Dallas, Texas on August 26, 1968. Includes liner notes by Chuck D. and Alan Leeds.
Recorded live in Dallas 1968, this album finds James Brown at a key point in his career, both musically and politically. In the aftermath of the King assassination, blacks were rioting in cities throughout the U.S. Any sense of African-American cultural identity was in serious danger. Brown, who till then had largely avoided social commentary in his work, took it upon himself to use his celebrity to help unite his people and halt the violence that was tearing the country apart. One of the key tracks here, "Say it Loud--I'm Black and I'm Proud," is funky, powerful affirmation of black pride that proved inspirational to many during this trying ...
| | Tullycraft City Of Subarus CD (1999)
Concord Duo Series Vol. 10 songs
$13.15 The best thing about Tullycraft's City of Subarus is the album's title, and that's not usually a good sign for any band. The shy, gently sarcastic themes from the band's previous album Old Traditions, New Standards are in place, but the music and the lyrics are simply not as memorable. That earlier album was filled with songs that were easy to sing along to, such as "Josie," "Mental Obsession," "Superboy and Supergirl," and the charming, showstopping "Pop Songs Your Boyfriend's Too Stupid to Know About." The songs on City of Subarus are ...
