All that needs to be heard is the first song on More Bitterness and that pretty much generalizes the entire album. Just straightforward mid-tempo, pop-punk, multi-layered vocals, and the occasional sample that'll inform the listener when another song is starting. What else could be said for a band that's practically put out the same album for the last several years? At least they do an abrasive versions of the Pouges' "Fairytale of New York" -- thanks to a little help from Tilt's Cinder Block -- which alone deserves a star. ~ Mike DaRonco

My best-buy of the last millenium... I bought this cd and listen to it for three weeks none-stop. Tony has a great voice and he really knows how to use it! Believe me, you won't get tired of this record!!! After "Leche con carne", I was a bit disapointed by "Making friends" but NUFAN really got me with this one. I can't wait to see them live! More Betterness isn't just a catchy name NUFAN rock. If you liked "Making Friends" or "Leche con Carne," then you should really like "More Betterness." It's my favorite of the three and has a lot of good, fast tracks. Submitted by a reviewer (Las Vegas, NV, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

More Betterness is the best! This album is much different from NUFAN's previous albums, but it's a good change. Songs are much more melodic and the harmonies stick in your head for a long time. Lyrically, No Use has really always been great writers and it gets better on this album. If you're in the mood for great punk with real meanings behind the lyrics, than be sure to pick up More Betterness and you won't be disappointed. $6.65 For a band whose members are known for not taking themselves too seriously, THE DECLINE is a serious affair. If such a genre exists, "progressive punk" would be the best way to describe the single, 18-plus-minute track that makes up this EP. There are drastic lyrical shifts in THE DECLINE. Cynical tongue-in-cheek prose gives way to warnings concerning the glorification of violence. What follows is a diatribe covering the hypocrisy ...
| | No Use For A Name Hard Rock Bottom CD (2002)
More Betterness album
$6.65 No Use for a Name has built its reputation on a solid foundation of hard-hitting punk, flooding its songs with melodies and fueling them with signature stop-start rhythms that thunder across the grooves, come to an abrupt halt, then pound off again in hyperdrive. Thus, it's a bit of a shock to find Hard Rock Bottom opening with a brief acoustic number, and although nothing else clocks in at this dawdling pace, a handful of mid-tempo numbers are scattered about as well. Equally startling is a cover of Sinéad O'Connor's "This Is a Rebel Song," a ...
