Featured are more crisp, evocative performances from these masterful performers. This time the music is inspired by the legends surrounding Coricancha, the famous fallen temple of the sun located in the Incan capital city of Cusco. With its exterior walls covered in gold, the building was mercilessly plundered by the Spanish in the 1500s. Inkuyo succeeds in capturing the mystery, majesty, and tragedy of this historical wonder. ~ Linda Kohanov

Temple Of The Sun music CDs
$11.69 Having made her name as the ethereal vocalist of Vas, Azam Ali ventures forth with this shimmering solo debut. Openly influenced by Hildegard von Bingen, PORTALS OF GRACE continues Ali's long relationship with the music and stories of medieval Europe, drawing from Sephardic, Breton, and Latin sources, to name a few.
The opener, "Lasse Pour Quois," recounts the heartbreak of a 14th-century French member of a little-known order of female troubadours who roamed the continent. "O Quanta Qualia," written by the poet-heretic ...

| | Enigma Cross Of Changes CD (1994)
Temple Of The Sun CD music
$11.39 On THE CROSS OF CHANGES, Enigma delves into the mystic with a musical fervor that transcends sampling technologies and popular dance beats. THE CROSS OF CHANGES is a serene yet supremely sensual musical synthesis that might best be characterized as new age hip-hop. Enigma's worldwide hit MCMXC A.D. was notable for, among other things, its use of Gregorian chants as samples in a heady techno mix, which inspired such delirious interest in this ancient music that The ...

Temple Of The Sun songs
$18.99 “Recruitment Songs” (verbunks) conjures up the Age of Romanticism and national revival in Hungary. The contemporary society created “national” forms of music and dance through a process of countrywide “globalisation”; this resulted in a common dance dialect that existed above the different traditions belonging to the various regions. During this process the tastes and fashions of different social strata were unified through the careful mediation of contemporary dance gurus. This performance is a memorial to the development of the “national dance”, and its survival in folk tradition. In the first part we give the viewers a glimpse of archaic dance forms (jumping dances, whirling dances, pair dances, and military dances), which were used as source material during the unifying programmes of the Romantic Movement. The “verbunk” (recruitment dance) developed from archaic men’s dances, whilst the “czardas” developed from the closed, whirling, stooping and cajoling couple dances, which appeared during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries ...
