Q - 4 Stars - Excellent Down Beat (3/91) - 4 Stars - Very Good - "...explores Middle Eastern music. Tekbilek is a revelation here, playing reeds, string instruments, hand drums and synthesizers, all with agility and feeling. Keane contributes acoustic guitar leads and an acute producer's sensitivity to the spirit of this music. Reminiscent of Peter Gabriel's landmark `Passion' recording, `Fire Dance' makes a great introduction to music from the Middle East." Fire Dance
$38.09 DREAMS is a 4-CD box set compiling in chronological order tracks by the Allman Brothers Band, as well as tracks by bands featuring one or more member of the Allman Brothers Band and solo performances by Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts.
Recorded between 1966 & 1988. Includes a 32-page illustrated booklet and liner notes by John Swenson.
Like nearly all box sets, DREAMS has plenty to recommend it-and a few nagging drawbacks. The set's chief shortcoming is its two conflicting goals: providing an overview of the Allmans' history, thus attracting buyers seeking the ultimate hits package, and including enough unreleased tracks and rarities to appeal to the band's most devoted fans. As a result, DREAMS is neither the definitive ...
| | Poco Forgotten Trail (1969-74) CDs (1990)
Fire Dance
$15.29 This compilation contains 38 songs, including many new remixes from original master tapes, 6 previously unreleased songs, alternate versions of 3 others, and a comprehensive 36 page booklet, with historic liner notes and photos.
This excellent two-disc collection captures Poco's finest moments from the days when they were laying down the template for all the country-rock music that was to follow. It's hard to remember, but when the Eagles first hit the scene, they were thought by many to be a Poco-wannabe band. Listen to this set and you'll hear why. The Forgotten Trail (1969-1974) culls tracks from ...

Released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of the first Doors album, THE VERY BEST OF THE DOORS supercedes all former Doors compilations. At two discs and 34 tracks, this is quite comprehensive for a band whose key lineup released only half a dozen albums. In addition to all the expected hits like "Light My Fire," "Hello I Love You," and "Roadhouse Blues," this compilation delves much deeper into the catalogue with fan favorites such as "Not To Touch the Earth" and "Wishful Sinful," as well as a handful of previously obscure rarities. Remastered and newly remixed by original engineer Bruce Botnick and the surviving ...
| | Abi Tapia One Foot Out The Door CD (2005)
Fire Dance
$18.95 The new CD from Abi Tapia is here! Produced by Chris Gage at his MoonHouse Studio in Austin, it features 12 new songs about love, leavin', and coming home. The creation of this music has been a year-long road trip with Abi (vocals, guitar and harmonica) driving and Chris Gage (producer, engineer, guitars, keys and vocals) sitting shotgun with the maps. They picked up a few hitchhikers along the way including Glenn Fukunaga (bass), Paul Pearcy (drums), Eamon McLoughlin and Kym Warner of The Greencards (violin and mandolin), Mike Hardwick (steel guitars), and Brittani and Tiffani Ginn (harmony vocals). These musicians have contributed to albums from the Dixie Chicks, Eliza Gilkyson, Jimmy Dale Gilmore and countless others. Abi Tapia happily calls Austin home, but to say she's simply a Texas songwriter wouldn't give the whole story. The daughter of musicians, Abi was born in Alabama and lived until she was fifteen in various towns around the Southeast and Texas. She has since lived in the Midwest (where she was a Sociology major at Grinnell College) and New England (where she began her professional music career). Characteristics of all of these regions inspire Abi's songwriting: The inviting warmth of the South, the expansiveness of ...
