| | WCBS-FM'S 25th Anniversary: Best Of The 60S CD (2 Customer Reviews)
WCBS FM 101.1 25th Anniversary, Vol. 2: The 60s -- Silver Anniversary Edition collects 24 classic rock & roll and pop/rock tracks that are perennial favorites on the New York radio station, including Terry Stafford's "Suspicion," the Zombies' "Time of the Season," Martha & the Vandellas' "Heatwave," the Supremes' "Stop! In the Name of Love," the Tokens' "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," Freddy Cannon's "Palisades Park" and Ricky Nelson's "Travelin' Man." It's a solid but unexceptional oldies collection that should please casual fans; more dedicated collectors will find its predictable song selection a little frustrating and the disc a little unnecessary. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

A musician of many talents who can express himself vocally as well as instrumentally, in a variety of moods and settings. I highly recommend his recordings and live performances to anyone who enjoys the best in Jazz. The term "jukebox musical" was used in the early years of the 21st century to refer to a type of Broadway show in which the score consisted of long-familiar songs, often from the pop realm, with a jury-rigged story written to accommodate them, the model being Mamma Mia!, which employed the music of ABBA. LoveMusik, which ran on Broadway for a while during 2007, might be called a jukebox musical in this sense, although, unlike that show and some others, the music derived from an actual Broadway composer, not a pop act.
