(6 Customer Reviews)
Contains 2 LPs on 1 CD: WHO WILL ANSWER (1968)/MY CUP RUNNETH OVER (1967). Includes liner notes by Mark Marymont. Collectables' Who Will Answer?/My Cup Runneth Over combines two late-'60s albums from Ed Ames onto one compact disc. These two albums were easy listening records, with light folk, country, and pop influences. While Ames sounds out of place on "Blowin' in the Wind," "Yesterday," and "Monday, Monday," the overall quality of the material is quite high, and singles like "My Cup Runneth Over" and "Time, Time" help make these two records some of Ames' best work of the era. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine Who Will Answer/My Cup Runneth Over Music Ed Ames Who Will Answer/My Cup Runneth Over Songs Who Will Answer/My Cup Runneth Over Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Stupendous I like Ed Ames better every time I hear him. My favorite male singer I had this album until I couldn't find a turntable to play it any longer - that and the fact I simply wore extra grooves in the album playing it so often. I miss hearing Ed Ames' wonderful voice. This fan would be thrilled to hear that a new CD is in the works. Could it happen? Submitted by Bestgmabeth (Bremerton, WA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Who Will Answer/My Cup Runneth Over
$12.49 'Axes' is luscious, beautiful and melodic. In parts it leans towards a pop aesthetic complemented by Susman's inscrutable and dulcet vocals. At other times it's a thunderously powerful force of hard- edged metal derived guitar riffs, clattering piano and primal pounding drums and bass. The album is an engulfing frenzy of garage and new wave-esq rock which intensifies on their cover of Leonard Cohen's 'The Partisan'. With an unsurprising punk ethic of a band so admirably indomitable, Electrelane began playing the track on 2004's pre-election US tour as a mockery of Bush's ownership of the word "freedom".
Electrelane: Verity Susman (keyboards); Ros Murray (bass guitar); Emma Gaze, Mia Clarke. Personnel: Verity Susman (vocals, guitar, saxophone, piano, harmonium, organ); Chicago a Cappella (vocals); Mia Clarke (guitar); Ros Murray (banjo, cello); Amy Larsen (trumpet); Dasun Sinder (French horn); Emma Gaze (drums). Recording information: Electrical Audio (12/2004-01/2005). Though it arrives only a little over a year after the radiant The Power Out, Electrelane's third album Axes is a very different beast than their previous effort. Actually, it's more of a piece with the band's lengthy, improv-based debut, Rock It to the Moon, with keyboard-driven, largely instrumental tracks that often sound like a chamber music group playing forgotten Sonic Youth compositions. Both Rock It to the Moon and Axes show that Electrelane has undeniable talent as an instrumental post-rock band, but the mix of this talent with vocals and pop song structures on The Power Out was so striking that it almost can't help but be disappointing that the band didn't follow that direction on this album, too. To be fair, Axes does have a handful of tracks that expand on what ...

Who Will Answer/My Cup Runneth Over
$17.09 (A brief biography)Colorado cowboy and entertainer Gary McMahan is a walking page of American history. A native of Greeley, Colorado, he is a descendant of generations of farmers, ranchers, and stockmen on both sides of his family. For years he has worked on, managed, owned, and operated horse and cow outfits in the Rockies. He has made his living doing everything from cowboying to guiding to even driving stagecoaches. He knows how to brand, calve, rope, ride broncs, fence, hay, shoe horses, pack, and drive teams. He rodeoed for eight years, roping calves and riding bareback horses, saddlebroncs, and bulls. He has won many honors in the rodeo arena, including a few all-around titles.Through it all, Gary has been a keen observer as well as a participant. His colorful background has set Gary in good stead to practice his heart's desire: to write, perform, and record the stories, poems, songs, and humor of his Western heritage. Starting in his early teens around the campfires, he has developed into one of the most dynamic and sought-after ...
