Bobby Marchan gained a reputation as lead vocalist for Huey "Piano" Smith and as a popular female impersonator around the Crescent City. He also had a few minor hits under his own name in the early '60s, including "There's Something on Your Mind." Most listeners will want to investigate Marchan's material further than this 12-track Collectables compilation allows. The discs to search for are Clown Jewels: The Ace Masters 1956-75 and Smith's Having a Good Time on Edsel. ~ Al Campbell
Includes liner notes by Kerry Kudlacek aka Chicago Kerry.

$16.49 FELTON PILATEwww.feltonpilate.com www.escapimusic.com www.thrillentertainmentgroup.comFelton Pilate (“pilot”), long-time co-lead vox for Mercury/PolyGram's ConFunkShun, steps out with a fantastic solo CD entitled "Nothing But Love Spoken Here". With his flair for the urban/AC-flavored bump and grind goodies, Pilate really lets loose with this 14-song set of slow to mid-tempo love anthems and stepper-krunk remix moves. Unlike many current R&B ballad offerings, it’s all about romance, not just lust. The album title cut is a riveting soul scorcher, a true love tale of sensuous melodic power. His signature lush arrangements are consistent song after song; and "In Time" really accentuates his patented choruses of flowing grandeur. "Different Lives", a melancholy story about forlorn regrets, has movie theme quality. Pilate's silky falsetto is given free reign and soars throughout; with a delightful showing in "Keepin' You To Your Promise". Pilate originally penned/produced it for The Stylistics, and proves extremely capable in his vocal rendition as well. A Taste Of Honey's Janice-Marie Johnson and Pilate duet seamlessly on "Only For You", about that elusive quality, devotion. Johnson also portrays Pilate’s love interest in his title track, strawberry champagne-exotic, and bubble bath cozy dream scene video. Filmed in a wintertime Swedish forested hideaway, “Nothing But Love Spoken Here” is anything but stock video footage. Kudos to the vision of Escapi Music. Bulleting to #1 R&B at RHYTHMflowRadio.net, ”Takin’ It To The Top” really does swing you all the way there. Providing production, songwriting, vocals and instrumental ...

| | Mark Walton Where This Road Takes Me CD (2007)
Golden Classics CD music
$15.15 Mark was born January 15, 1956, and grew up in the small 'mill town' of Milltown, Indiana. The town had formed years earlier because of a grist mill built on the Blue River. While the river still runs through the heart of the town, the mill has long been silent, but Mark is now being heard by the world.Mark grew up like many other Indiana boys in the fifties and sixties, catching frogs, fishing, and playing basketball on the hoop nailed to the garage door. But at a very early age, while watching Mitch Miller’s bouncing ball teach rhythm, he felt the lure of music. He continued to watch Mitch, and then The Johnny Cash Show at his Grandma’s house on a weekly basis. His love of music could have been partly inherited. He learned later in life, after he had already been rooted in music, that his maternal grandmother played by ear and sang. She was about 16, in the early 1900’s, when she would travel by horse and buggy to play her guitar and sing at parties.Mark’s parents first realized how important music was to their son when he fashioned his first guitar from a stairway slat. He used stretched rubber bands for strings, and attached his instrument to a cardboard box amplifier with a length of baler twine. At the age of 11, Mark’s parents bought him his first 'real' guitar. “It was a Tesco if my memory serves me right. Money was in short supply back then, so they put it on lay-away. ...
