| | Fatback Band Let's Do It Again CD Fatback Band Discography of CDs
The debut album by the soon-to-be venerable Fatback Band is a mostly instrumental -- minus some "What's Going On"-style exclamations and raps in the background -- collection of pure funk grooves. More in the Curtis Mayfield vein of slick and nimble dancefloor fillers than loose Parliament/Funkadelic jams, these nine tracks are concise -- only one track breaks the four-minute barrier -- and tightly constructed, with little room for exploratory soloing or aimless vamping. The key tracks, however, are the three non-originals, cover choices that might surprise some folks who have never heard, say, Isaac Hayes' Black Moses: the Fatback Band strips down any cheesy sentimentality from Glen Campbell's Jimmy Webb hit "Wichita Lineman," Bread's wimp-rock classic "Baby I'm-A Want You," and even the moldy oldie "Green Green Grass of Home," purifying the tunes down to their melodic basics and transforming them into absolutely ravishing deep soul ballads. These are the sort of songs that keep people eagerly snapping up any '70s soul or funk album they can find, looking for just this kind of effortless, slinky groove. Let's Do It Again is highly recommended for the three covers alone, but the six originals, all powered by drummer/bandleader Bill Curtis, are equally fine. ~ Stewart Mason

$9.75 Despite its codification into our collective pop culture consciousness, Isaac Hayes' "Theme From Shaft" is a highly original composition. It's been remade by Hayes himself for the remade Shaft film, and appropriately kicks off this collection of tunes from the movie by some of R&B's New Jacks.

Let's Do It Again album
$22.79 "COSMOLOGY" is AQi Fzonoâs 5th Album, one of his representative works of the 90âs. When the original version was released in 1998, it was recognized as "one of the greatest albums in the history of the Spacey Electronic Instrumental Music comparable to Oxygene by Jean-Michel Jarre and Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfieldâ. This is the digitally remastered 2006 version that AQi Fzono calls it as the "Composerâs Cut" (like "Directorâs Cut" in film term), the definitive edition that the artist himself took command of the remastering process. Not only the sound has been remastered, but the 8-page full color booklet and the jacket design have also been totally renewed. The sound that portrays "transcend time and space" fuses his world class arranging styles of Techno/Dance Music, Ambient, Progressive Rock and Classical Music. At the original release it was highly regarded as "a rare cross-fertilization of Electronic Music, Techno, Progressive Rock, Psychedelic Music and Classical Music" and "the sound that materializes as if you were viewing a monumental Sci-Fi trip movie". A club hit "COSMOLOGY 5" and other tunes embracing elements of Ambient, Techno, Trance, IDM, Trip Hop, and DrumânâBase show AQi Fzonoâs different approach to the current Club/Electronic Music sounds. While each track has a unique characteristic based on his original Sci-fi Music style, the album as a whole portrays a majestic and translunary world. The massive sound that fuses Dance/Electronica Music and groundbreaking Progressive Music ...
