Collectables revives two of Shelley Fabares' albums from 1962 on this CD, encompassing her three biggest hits and a slew of interesting album tracks. This package nicely augments Rhino's best-of since there is so little overlap, but it also suffices as a stand-alone anthology since Fabares' big hits, namely "Johnny Angel" and "Johnny Loves Me," are accounted for. Shelley! includes a couple of updates of pop standards and a bouncy duet with Paul Petersen ("Very Unlikely"), while The Things We Did Last Summer is overwhelmingly comprised of covers of contemporary hits. That may not sound particularly enticing, but it's a lot of fun to hear a female vocalist take the lead on songs like "Palisades Park" and Brian Hyland's "Sealed With a Kiss," and the selection of material overall can't be faulted. ~ Greg Adams

There are numerous songs here, becides her successful hit "Johnny Angel" , that should have been given more credit for, which should have been aired on the radio during the 60s. Although many of these songs were made popular by other artists, Shelley sings them with an unresistable sweet voice throughout , as if they were all written just for her. I srongly suggest getting this CD for any one who admired Shelley for her wonderful Angelic voice on Johnny Angel, here you'll find more of the same. Buy this CD, and I guarantee , you won't be dissapointed. Richard, of Riverside, California

 unique early 60's beach sounds
This album, compiled in 2004, is the very best sound quality I think we shall find in Shelley's music. Here we have producer Stu Phillips rendering of her primary hits and many other songs of the same type with the chorus/strings so often used in this era////well put together, in spite of her rather weak vocals--in most cases! Songs like Johnny Amgel, Johnny Loves Me, Where's It Gonna Get Me? stand out as vocal "milestones" for young Shelley, who had a limited range to say the least. But amazingly, with current digital tech; the overall sound effect is very very nice.

Made me feel like a teenager again...
Bought this CD to recapture my adolescence when I marveled at Shelley's sweet distinctive voice singing deamy favorites such as "Johnny Angel," "I'm Growing Up," and "Johhny Loves Me" back around 1970. Wonderful tunes & timeless. Great CD.
