UNDERTOW is an example of nimble heavy metal in the angtsy/artsy tradition of Jane's Addiction. Tool favors medium tempos, which gives several of the group's songs a modern-day Black Sabbath feel, but fortunately lead singer Maynard James mostly steers clear of the usual quasi-operatic yowling favored by most metal frontmen--he's a remarkably expressive singer in a genre not usually so noted. As for the band's world-view, it's pretty much summed up in the unsentimentally named "Prison Sex": "Do unto others, what has been done to you."

this has got to be one one the goofiest albums ever recorded.weird art work isnt enough for an interesting listen.an hrs worth of fluff.

Tool simply rocks! This and all their other albums are so good, every single one of them is worth having, so buy all of their albums and you'll be happy you did. They rule!

Intellectual darkside
Tool does not fit into any genre...yes, their music is heavy, but it's much more than "heavy metal". Their lyrics have a definite intention and are well thought out. The band's education can be heard throughout each song, lyrics as well as instruments, everything is intricate and detailed. You don't just HEAR it. You're drawn in to truly listen. I strongly suggest Undertow and if you enjoy it run out right away and get Aenima, Tool only improves with age!

i love disalbum it is da best heavy metal. i can't wait till theycome out w/a 3rd album. woulda gave dis album a 10 but chart don't go dat high. if u want a good meatl album & u don't have this 1.try listenin 2 dis1 it is awesome.
