| | Rambo 3 Rambo III Soundtrack CD
Performed by the Hungarian State Opera Orchestra. Producers: Peter Wolf, Jerry Goldsmith, Giorgio Moroder. Recorded at Mafilm Studios/Hungarofilm, Budapest, Hungary. All music written and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith except "It Is Our Destiny" (Ina & Peter Wolf), "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" (Bob Russell/Bobby Scott) and "The Bridge" (Giorgio Moroder/Tom Whitlock). Audio Mixer: Mike Ross. Recording information: CBS, London, England; Hungarofilm, Budapest, Hungary; Mafilm Studios, Hungarofilm, Budapest, Hungary. Unknown Contributor Role: Hungarian State Opera Orchestra. With the theatrical cut of 1988's action blockbuster Rambo III employing precious little of Jerry Goldsmith's score, Intrada's superb 1998 soundtrack reissue represents the first real opportunity to hear much of what constitutes the composer's finest work on the much-maligned series. A complex score that makes judicious use of Goldsmith's previous Rambo themes and ideas, the music deftly combines conventional orchestral arrangements, electronic effects, and traditional Middle Eastern instruments to convey both the beauty of the film's Afghanistan landscapes and the horrors of the Cold War-era battles fought there. With its emphasis on martial rhythms and volcanic eruptions of strings, brass, and synthesizers, Goldsmith's score exists largely to serve the over-the-top carnage onscreen, but it's the more subdued moments, though rare, that stick out -- in particular, the opening cue, "Another Time," speaks more about the inner turmoil of the John Rambo character than Sylvester Stallone's brutish title performance ever will. ~ Jason Ankeny Rambo III Soundtrack Music Rambo 3 Rambo III Soundtrack Songs Rambo III Soundtrack Review

Rambo III Soundtrack
$12.59 Original score composed by Trevor Jones. The soundtrack to the Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant romantic comedy Notting Hill is every bit as consciously classy as the film it supports. If it isn't as ingratiating, that's because it's significantly harder to offer a twist on a formula soundtrack album than on a formula movie. With a film, little details, supporting characters, and subtle, interesting visuals give the movie identity within a formula. Unfortunately, a soundtrack remains a collection of oldies, newer songs, and score excerpts, no matter how much you shake it up, and that's the case here. Much of this is quite enjoyable -- it's hard to go wrong with such pop classics as Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine," Al Green's "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart," and Spencer Davis Group's "Gimme Some Lovin'" providing the foundation. If the newer songs aren't quite up to par -- Elvis Costello's ...

The movie Paint Your Wagon was an attempt to update the plot of an old stage musical by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe, with new songs by André Previn and Lerner. The soundtrack is a peculiar release; in purely musical terms, it would only be of interest to dedicated fans of Harve Presnell (who ...

Rambo III Soundtrack
$18.59 Audio Mixers: Stan Agoi; Erol Blacstead; Dave Regno; Jack Hunt. Audio Remasterer: Dave Schultz. Officially it was "Music from the Original Soundtrack [of Michael Wadleigh's documentary feature film Woodstock] And More," but the triple-LP (later double-CD) Woodstock was really rock's first "coffee table" album. Bought by millions but not really listened to that often, it's amid a flood of wrong notes and the inherent flaws in recording live in front of hundreds of thousands of people in a temporary, makeshift venue. It was more satisfying for ...
