| | Golden Age Of American Rock 'N' Roll, Vol. 3 CD (2 Customer Reviews)
More good, classic stuff. Everyone will have different favorites according to their tastes, which is an advantage of having such a diverse collection on CD--you can skip around as you like. The roll call here includes many classic one-shots, by Wilbert Harrison ("Kansas City"), Bill Parsons ("The All American Boy," sung by Bobby Bare, although Parsons got the label credit), the Teddy Bears ("To Know Him Is to Love Him," Phil Spector's first classic), the Turbans ("When You Dance"), Skip & Flip ("It Was I"), the Olympics ("Western Movies"), and the Castells ("Sacred"). ~ Richie Unterberger

Great CD! Great sound! To the audiophile, Ace's CDs are top of the line. A lot of tunes for your buck! 30 tracks on this one CD... wait till you hear Ray Smith's "Rockin' Little Angel"! To the people at Ace...keep up the good work! Submitted by gunsel515 (Lexington, KY, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Another "Two thumbs up!!" album.
Volume 3 introduces 30 more gems from one of the most comprehensive oldies collections ever. 300 songs on 10 CDs. ACE is to be commended for their efforts at preserving and bringing this collection of mid 50s - early 60s music to market. They didn’t do the usual Top Ten Hits as did Billboard. They did the top 100! Volume 3 continues the flavor and style of Volumes 1 & 2. More great (and some not so great) songs from the 1954 - 1963 era. If you are old enough to remember the big hits of this time period, on this CD, you will find several of those Top Ten hits as well as many of the lessor hits you’ve forgotten about. Listening to this CD is like it was on the radio. The good, bad, love songs, funny songs and in-between hits of the day. If you want to take a trip back in time, go first class and buy this CD. If you are too young to remember these great songs firsthand and want to hear what the true “Golden Era” of Rock & Roll was all about, give this CD a try. On the back of the CD is states “Mastered from the finest original source tapes” and you better believe it. Recording quality is excellent (remember these are 40+ year old recordings) and most of the songs are mono. Background noise is virtually non-existent. If you remember these songs, you will hear them on this CD as you have never heard them before. Run time is 75:42. Liner notes are quite extensive and make for enjoyable reading. Once again, “Two thumbs up!”
