Digitally remastered by George Marino and Rob Stevens, Sterling Sound, New York, New York.

A continuation of the 1992 compilation WALKING ON THIN ICE, with which it shares no tracks, A STORY is a fine precis of the '80s and '90s work of possibly the most misunderstood artist in the history of popular music. The album lacks the sonic aggression and playful anarchy of her '60s performance art and early collaborations with John Lennon, as well as the seething anger of her '70s free-jazz-influenced rock & roll albums. Considering that it came after new wave and post-punk artists who were audibly influenced by her trailblazing efforts, Ono's late work simply doesn't sound terribly weird! The songs on A STORY are Ono's rapprochement with the pop mainstream, and while they're typically direct and unflinchingly honest, her plainspoken, often aggressive lyrics are here set in attractive, pleasant synth-oriented pop music. Highlights include the wistful "Hard Times Are Over" and the defiant "She Gets Down on Her Knees."

Principally recorded at Record Plant, New York, New York in 1974 and live in Budapest, Hungary in 1986.

Yoko Ono & Plastic Ono Band CD  (1970)

Story album
CD $14.49  2.7 stars Audio Samples Definitive Album
Recorded during the sessions for John Lennon's PLASTIC ONO BAND and packaged in nearly exactly the same sleeve (Lennon said his intent was to make some people accidentally buy Ono's record instead of his own), YOKO ONO & PLASTIC ONO BAND springs from the same impulses as its better-known doppelganger. Written and recorded while Lennon and Ono were under the influence of Arthur Janov's Primal Scream therapy, the album's six lengthy tracks are more abstract ...

Story CD music
CD $17.15  3.7 stars Audio Samples
Easily the most experimental of Yoko Ono's '70s solo albums, the two-disc, 95-minute FLY is nonetheless considerably more structured and accessible than her earlier, deliberately chaotic collaborations with John Lennon, such as 1968's TWO VIRGINS. Recorded with the core personnel of the Plastic Ono Band, including Lennon, Ringo Starr, and Klaus Voorman, FLY veers from relatively straightforward songs like "Midsummer New York" and the rueful "Mrs. Lennon" through more challenging fare like an extended take of "Don't Worry Kyoko (Mummy's Only Looking For Her Hand in the Snow." There's also the hypnotic "Don't Count the Waves" ...

Includes liner notes by Yoko Ono. Digitally remastered by George Marino and Rob Stevens, Sterling Sound, New York, New York. One of Yoko Ono's finest solo albums, 1973's FEELING THE SPACE continues the militant political charge of its predecessor, APPROXIMATELY INFINITE UNIVERSE. From the Yoko-as-Sphinx cover art to the plainspoken, angry songs ...

SEASONS OF GLASS was Yoko Ono's first solo album in the wake of John Lennon's death. In a controversial move-hailed by some as brave and defiant but denounced by others as tasteless and exploitative-SEASONS' cover photo depicts the view of Central Park from the apartment Ono and Lennon shared. Lennon's bloodied, shattered glasses sit on the windowsill, in the foreground. It's a staggering image and one that accurately reflects the music . Though most of SEASONS ...

Casual metalheads will listen to Helloween and say, "They sound kinda like Iron Maiden." The fact of the matter is that Maiden sounds like Helloween. This 2001 set features the bonus tracks "Still I Don't Know" and "Take It To The Limit," as well as "We Burn," "Street Tormentor," "Power," and the burning title cut. Despite the difficulties that had plagued them in recent years (including inconsistent albums, constant lineup changes, and even the suicide of founding drummer ...

Walter Afanasieff won the 2000 Grammy Award for Producer Of The Year for "I Count The Minutes." RICKY MARTIN was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Pop Album. "Livin' La Vida Loca" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Record Of The Year, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s), and Song Of The Year. "Livin' La Vida Loca" won the 2000 Billboard Latin Music Award for Latin Pop Track of the Year and was nominated for Hot Latin Track of the Year. "Livin' La Vida Loca (Spanish version)" was nominated for the 2000 Latin Grammy Award for Record Of The Year and "Bella (She's All I Ever Had)" was nominated for the 2000 Latin Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Perforance. The statement may raise a few eyebrows, but this ex-Menudo hunk has come up a stunner of an album. A track like "Livin' La Vida Loca" makes a seamless amalgam of Pan-Americana in which surf guitars, electronica, and Mariachi horns rock together in fine form, and its Spanglish chorus feels as ordinary ...
