| | Morphine Bootleg Detroit CD Morphine Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Recorded live at The Montreux Jazz Festival, Montreux, Switzerland and St. Andrew's Hall, Detroit, Michigan between March 7, 1994 and 1995.
The odd title of this final sanctioned release by Morphine before Mark Sandman's untimely death comes from its origin -- a tape made by an audience member at a Detroit show during Morphine's Cure for Pain tour. While the tapes were mastered by Sandman shortly before his demise, the original quality of the recording cannot be overcome. Still, this is a good document of Morphine's excellent live show and displays the energy and passion that they played with during the tour that supported their breakthrough album. Some short tracks featuring banter probably could have been sacrificed in favor of more songs, but on the whole the album stands as a loving tribute to an innovative band. ~ Stacia Proefrock

| | Morphine Yes CD (1995)
Bootleg Detroit CD music
$9.89 All songs written by Mark Sandman except "The Jury" (Morphine/Frank Swart).
Morphine's Mark Sandman thinks he's the king of alternative romance; the smooth tones of his ultra bassy band--no guitar, but a saxophone--purr elegantly. YES, Morphine's third release, offers Sandman's sleekest, most consistent songwriting efforts to date, and the band has never sounded so inviting.
Morphine is as close as alternative rock comes to jazz. It's swinging bass lines sound impossibly low, complete ...
| | Morphine B-Sides & Otherwise CD (1997)
Bootleg Detroit music CDs
$10.59 B-SIDES AND OTHERWISE is a collection 12 Morphine non-album tracks and rarities.
Live tracks were recorded at Bullet Sound, Nederhorst Den Berg, Holland on May 25, 1994.
Now that Morphine's success has resulted in a leap from the indie environs of Rykodisc to the major-label stomping grounds of Dreamworks, B-SIDES traces their esoteric path to mainstream visibility via a collection of noirish odds and ends. Morphine's unorthodox musical approach is fueled by a drum/saxophone/2-string slide bass line-up, and ...
| | Morphine Night CD (2000)
Bootleg Detroit songs
$7.29 Don't let the name mislead you. While some might jump to the conclusion that a name like Morphine would be reserved for another derivative, abrasive metal band, this band's music is something completely different. Morphine was in one fact of the most original indie-rock bands of the '90s. It's ironically tragic that vocalist/bassist Mark Sandman's untimely passing from a heart attack cut the band's future short before the release of the group's last and possibly most brilliant album, THE NIGHT.
Morphine's sound could possibly described as a jazzy, musical backdrop to beat poetry. As soon as the two-stringed fretless bass and baritone saxophone open "The Night," the listener is put into a hypnotic, trance-like ...
| | VH1 Presents The Corrs Live In Dublin CD (2002)
Bootleg Detroit album
$6.39 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, ...

| | Starflyer 59 I Am The Portuguese Blues CD (2004)
Bootleg Detroit album
$12.39 On I Am the Portuguese Blues Starflyer 59 take a step back from the majestic shoegaze meets soft rock albums they have been crafting (Leave Here a Stranger and Old) and retreat to the noisy, almost grunge sound they exhibited on their early albums. The record is short, the songs not very melodic, and the vocals direct and upfront in the mix. In fact, it almost sounds like an album of outtakes from Gold or Americana. ...
| | New Black CD (2004)
Bootleg Detroit CD music
$12.15 On their self-titled debut album, Chicago's New Black take a page out of the Veruca Salt handbook of quirky indie rock and mix it with a rebellious punk snarl like the Drapes for an attitude all their own. Elements of no wave and new wave filter throughout the nine-song set and New Black are fiercely confident from start to finish. Producer Greg Norman, who recorded the album at Steve Albini's famous Electrical Audio, captures New Black's effort of keeping things strictly rock & roll. Their overall design isn't exactly inventive; however, an energy that's hungry and fresh more than makes up for their lack of experience in the studio. Liam Kimball (vocals/bass) and Patti Gran (vocals/guitar) pitch and toss your typical relationship woes without getting childish. Rachel ...
| | Emerson, Lake, And Palmer Ultimate Collection CD (2004) (Import) Bonus CD; England; Limited Edition; United Kingdom
Bootleg Detroit music CDs
$14.25 This is a collection of tracks recorded by the U.K. prog-rock trio Emerson, Lake & Palmer.
When it comes to greatest-hits packages, compiling tracks within the prog-art/prog rock genre is the most thankless. How do you present a fair and balanced overview of a group that specialized in 15-minute epics? You put it on two discs. While noble, the approach misses its mark on Sanctuary's sprawling Emerson, Lake & Palmer retrospective, Ultimate Collection. While by no means bad -- there are still 24 tracks of wicked and sublime pretense; ELP has so much material -- and very few singles -- that each one of their fans will find reason to argue for or against the inclusion or exclusion ...
