The virtuosic pianist (still in peak form) leads the way on such pieces as his "Harlem Blues," "Ray's Idea" (composed decades earlier by Brown) and Horace Silver's "Cookin' at the Continental." ~ Scott Yanow Pianist's articulation, virtuosity & creativity were in a class comparable only to Art Tatum & Oscar Peterson; this all-star session from 1969 features jazz greats Ray Brown on bass & Elvin Jones on drums.
