(1 Customer Review)
A masterful comeback album from a blues and soul veteran who was assumed to be ready for the retirement home. Rufus Thomas went back to the comic blues that had been his forte in the 1950s, and the edge in his voice and defiance in his tone proclaimed that he wasn't finished yet. After years of taking heat from purists for not issuing enough "real" blues albums, Alligator didn't get nearly enough credit for being the only label to give Rufus Thomas a fair shot in the 1980s. ~ Ron Wynn That Woman Is Poison! | | Jaymay We Live Praise CD (2007)
That Woman Is Poison!
$13.69 “We Live Praise” is not only the title of the new album by JayMay but also a statement as to how to live this life of faith through Jesus Christ. Praise should not just be done at church but should carry on through out the rest of the week in our everyday lives. Through this album JayMay attempts to highlight how this praise can be accomplished. While doing this he enlists the production talents of Big Ran, Msimp from Kingdom Music Productions, Genuine Life Productions, V-Smooth from GPM Productions and fellow label mate UnknowN. On the UnknowN produced “We Live Praise Intro” a track filled with a banging drum line and instrumentation of an orchestra JayMay sets it off by encouraging believers everywhere to “Praise the Lord” and “Live Praise not just Give Praise”. His approach to the praise element in life is based off of Psalms 63:3-4 “Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.” From this standpoint is what allows the album to not only embark on the good side of life, but on the complex issues that we daily face that challenge our relationship with Jesus Christ. Mark J stopped to get in on the Big Ran produced track “Come Back” which gives a cry out to all those who’ve stepped away from the faith. On the song “I Love You” JayMay speaks from two perspectives, one the everlasting love of God and how he sees us, and two how we see ourselves. With Apaulsoul singing on the chorus this emotional song captures the essence of God’s love. On the title track “We Live Praise” this electric guitar laced produced song by Msimp serves as the albums anthem. The up powerful chorus provokes people to giving God everything through praise. JayMay also gets the help from others making advances in the Gospel Hip Hop genre. With fellow Double Edge Sword Records artist S.O.C.O.M. and Da Clay they join him on an amped up track titled “We Are Christians” this song will help people become proud of the heritage of Christianity and what it stands for. They also join him along with MVP, Bridge B, JJ Luz, and Cnista on the court room dramatic song “I’ma Witness” This song is a fictional depiction of Jesus Christ being on trial and how we as believers’ should be His witnesses to the world by proclaiming what He is and what He means to us. Though the trial is made up in the song, it’s true that we should witness for Him. Featured also is the song “Throw Em Off” which will be on the up coming Holy Hip Hop Volume 5 compilation album distributed by EMI Gospel. “We Live Praise” will graciously be a great addition to the Gospel Rap lover’s collection. JayMay is also a student at Colorado Christian University pursuing a bachelors degree, full time Soldier in the United ...
