Dixieland album for sale by Pete Fountain / Lawrence Welk was released Apr 01, 1994 on the Ranwood label. Although Lawrence Welk gets top billing and his picture is on the back cover of the LP, this is actually a fairly strong Dixieland date by Welk's sidemen with many solos from its new star, clarinetist Pete Fountain. The music is not quite as strong as Fountain's first albums as a leader but there are good moments to heard on such standards as "China Boy," "Barnyard Blues" and "'S Wonderful." ~ Scott Yanow Personnel: Wild Bill Davison (cornet).
