Curb's Greatest Hits was the only American Jack Scott compilation available in the mid-'90s, after Capitol pulled its Collectors Series from the market. Although Greatest Hits only has 11 tracks -- including a then-recent recording of "Running Scared" -- it has the essential big hits ("My True Love," "Goodbye Baby," "Burning Bridges," "Leroy," "The Way I Walk," "What in the World's Come Over You") and is a serviceable collection, even if it is frustratingly brief. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine Greatest Hits Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) Jack Scott's the Best! Thumbs Up Was always a Jack Scott fan. Needless to say this was "music" to my ears (yes pun intended), finding this collection.
Would highly recommend it. Submitted by martin1945 (Mansfield, MA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Get Ready for a Weird Vibe! Jack Scott crossed over late period Rockabilly with smooth Country crooning in the late 60's. Though not every tune on this CD has "hit" written all over it, many are mind nuggets, that you will find yourself humming in the truck on the way to a fight at the bar. Get it? | | Vogues Greatest Hits CD (1988)
Greatest Hits
$8.29 A doo wop vocal group from the Pittsburgh area, the Vogues started well in the mid-'60s with "You're the One," an infectious bit of folk-rock with enough of a British Invasion feel to earn it heavy play on AM radio. "Five O'Clock World" was an even better single, a two-minute blast of timeless release, chronicling the feel of getting off work with the whole night still ahead, that one instant when everything is a possibility and the future ...

The second installment of the Hard to Find 45's series is, like the first, a wide assortment of Top 40 hits, some of them indeed very hard to find on CD or even hear on the radio. Some of them are not really that hard to find on CD, though this disc (like every one in this series) takes pains to present original 45 RPM single versions, ...

Greatest Hits
$25.55 Japanese exclusive reissue of the soft-rock singer/songwriter's 1978 sophomore album. Ten tracks. Sony. 1993.
Personnel: Valerie Carter (vocals); David Lasley, Wendy Haas, Vini Poncia (vocals); Jay Graydon (guitar, acoustic guitar, baritone guitar); Fred Tackett (guitar, acoustic guitar); Steve Lukather (guitar, baritone guitar); Davey Johnstone, Ray Parker, Jr. (guitar); Don Myrick, Tom Saviano (saxophone); Chuck Findley, Jim Horn, Steve Madaio (horns); Victor Feldman (electric piano, percussion); James Newton Howard, Mike Utley (keyboards); Steve Porcaro (synthesizer); Jeff Porcaro (drums); Lenny Castro (percussion). Recording information: Sunset Sound, Hollywood, CA. Wild Child, Valerie Carter's 1978 follow-up to her debut Just a Stone Throw's Away, was clearly designed to broaden whatever audience she may have had gained in the prior year. Really, she didn't make that big of an impact in 1978 -- the debut peaked at 1982 and spent five weeks on the chart without generating a single hit -- but it was enough to hold out the possibility that she could go further. So James Newton Howard signed on as the producer, bringing in top-flight studio musicians like Jeffrey Porcaro and Jay Graydon to perform a set of songs from various sources -- ranging from songs Carter co-wrote with Newton Howard to covers of Andy Fairweather Low and Eugene Record. ...
| | Darkest Hour Hidden Hands Of A Sadist Nation CD (2003) Bonus CD; Enhanced CD
Greatest Hits
$9.89 New Version W/Bonus Track + Victory Rec.CD Sampler.
Darkest Hour: John Henry (vocals); Mark Schleibaum, Kris Norris (guitar); Paul Burnette (bass); Ryan Parrish (drums). Recorded at Studio Fredman, Gothenburg, Sweden. Darkest Hour: John Henry (vocals); Kris Norris, Mike Schleibaum (guitar); Paul Burnette (bass instrument); Ryan Parrish (drums). On Darkest Hour's third album, Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation, it should come as no surprise that the lyrics are as vitriolic as the vocal timbre, decrying and describing a society where guns, violence, and malevolent media rule. The band rolls through twisted grindcore progressions in the background with reasonable aplomb. The album unexpectedly concludes with an uncharacteristic instrumental, "Veritas, Aequitas," whose piano, acoustic guitar, and air-guitar-hero soloing come as nothing less than a total shock after the mayhem of the preceding eight tracks. ~ Richie Unterberger To be indelicate, the vocal style that's taken grip throughout much punk/metal crossover music might be fairly characterized as the sound ...
