Personnel includes: Buck Owens (vocals, guitar); Don Rich (electric guitar, fiddle, background vocals); Doyle Holly, Red Simpson (guitar); Tom Brumley (steel guitar); Bob Mooris (electric bass); Willie Cantu (drums). Recorded at Capitol Recording Studios, Hollywood, California in June & July 1965. This 1999 reissue of Owens' 1967 Christmas album is a straight-up affair; with no hidden bonus tracks, just the straight 12 tracks from two 1965 sessions (odd they waited two years to put this stuff out), this is prime Buck Owens and His Buckaroos in the holiday mode. Featured here are "Santa Looked a Lot Like Daddy," "Santa's Gonna Come in a Stagecoach," and enough Yule-time weepers to make you realize that the holidays have a mighty dark side, too. ~ Cub KodaEntertainment Weekly (12/10/99, p.113) - "...there's a sleighful of gems among these originals...revisiting Bakersfield is the best present Nashville could give itself." - Rating: A Christmas With Buck Owens Music Christmas With Buck Owens Songs Christmas With Buck Owens Music Christmas With Buck Owens Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) A great CD This is a great CD with a good choice of songs. I've looked for this one for a long time & finally found it on this site. I like the older country music stars & some of them are hard to find. I'll come back to this site for more "oldies". IF YOU LIKE COUNTRY CHRISTMAS MUSIC, THIS IS A MUST! I REMEMBER BUCK'S CHRISTMAS SONG "DADDY LOOKS A LOT LIKE SANTA FRONM THE SIXTIES. IT IS A VERY CUTE SONG ABOUT WHAT A CHILD MIGHT THINK IF HE SAW SANTA KISSING HIS MOTHER. IT IS SORT OF A EXTENSION TO THE SONG "I SAW MOMMY KISSING SANTA CLAUS" BUT WITH A COUNTRY FLAVOR. IT SURE BRINGS BACK MEMORIES. Submitted by a reviewer (ISELIN, NEW JERSEY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

A Family Must As a child, this album was a tradition at Christmastime. While it is old, twangy country, it is also fun and very spirited. I am not a country music fan, but this can be loved by all. All of our friends who have heard it for the first time have enjoyed it. It is a great family tradition to start! Submitted by Shannan (Memphis, TN) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Christmas With Buck Owens
$13.95 Personnel: Alan Williams (vocals); Bill Hurd (keyboards); John Richardson (drums). A straightforward summary of the seven (out of eight) Top 30 hits enjoyed by the Rubettes between 1974-1976, rather obviously intended as a farewell to what had once ranked among the most effervescent hitmaking machines of the age. How premature -- just months later, the Rubettes bounced back with the tremendous "Baby I Know" and scored their biggest hit since "I Can Do It" two long years before. One cannot blame the powers that be, however, for thinking the band was over. Since they first emerged in a flurry of semi-Showaddywaddy rock & roll retro-isms and the chart-topping "Sugar Baby Love" in May 1974, the Rubettes' career had been moving slowly backwards all the time; the sugar-baby sound-alike "Tonight" peaked at a meager number 12 in the U.K., while just two further singles even breached the Top Ten: "Jukebox Jive" ...
